Samuel L. Jackson Talks STAR WARS: EPISODE VII And UNBREAKABLE 2
In a very interesting interview, Samuel L. Jackson (Marvel's The Avengers) has revealed a few of his theories as to how 'Mace Windu' could make a return in Star Wars: Episode VII and shares his thoughts on the unlikely sequel to M. Night Shyamalan's Unbreakable.
Jamie Foxx has spilled some interesting details about The Amazing Spider-Man 2 while promoting Django Unchained, while Samuel L. Jackson has also been pretty open about his future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Well, talking to The Huffington Post recently, Jackson once again touched upon a possible return as Mace Windu in Star Wars: Episode VII and looked back on just how much he initially wanted to be a part of that world. In fact, he didn't even care how small a role it would be! "I told George that. Look, you don't have to give me a part. All I need to do is put on one of those white [frick]ing Stormtrooper outfits and run across the screen. And I'll know that I'm in it. Nobody needs to know -- I don't care. I just want to say, "I'm in that shit." I don't have to have a credit. I don't have to have anything. I'll know!"
As for a return in Disney's Episode VII, the actor was quick to come up with a theory as to how Mace Windu could be brought back despite seemingly meeting his demise in Revenge of the Sith. "He just went out the window. He's a Jedi! He could have landed on a ledge." When the interviewer suggested that he could have survived by jumping on a speeder as Anakin did in Attack of the Clones, he said: "I could have done any of that. And I'm down with that."
Talk soon turned to Unbreakable, the 2000 film which saw Jackson play Elijah Price in what is widely considered to be M. Night Shyamalan's best. "There were supposed to be three. I don't know," the actor said when pushed for an update on the long talked about sequel. "You'll have to ask the brilliant director who wrote it and didn't do the rest of them. I mean, he [Shyamalan] hasn't made a really good movie since then." When it was mentioned that the reason for his lack of success since Unbreakable may have something to do with worrying too much about a big twist, Jackson added, "Yeah, there's that. And there's, you know, "I'm smarter than everybody coming to watch my movie." Quentin's not that. He's just, "I want you to love my movie. I want you to love it and enjoy it because this is [frick]ing cool." Be sure to sound off with your thoughts on these comments in the usual place!
