STAR WARS: Daisy Ridley Talks Possible Return As Rey Following Rumors She'll Be Part Of Future Movies

With rumours swirling that Daisy Ridley will return to the Star Wars Galaxy as Rey Skywalker, the actress has now shared her thoughts on whether there's a chance she's going to play the character again...

The Star Wars sequels remain incredibly divisive, and while The Last Jedi still generates heated discussion among fans, the way The Rise of Skywalker wrapped things up has proven to be an even bigger point of contention.

Simply put, it wasn't a particularly satisfying - or good - ending, and the open-ended nature of Rey declaring herself a Skywalker (not to mention Finn's apparent Jedi powers emerging) left the door at least somewhat ajar to more stories being told with these characters. Could that happen in one of the many big screen projects in various stages of development at Lucasfilm?

Rumour has it future movies will all be set after the events of the sequels, and while some actors (John Boyega, for example), seem to have little interest in reprising their roles, Daisy Ridley isn't shooting down the prospect of playing Rey again.

Talking to The Hollywood Reporter (via SFFGazette.com), the British actress addressed recent rumours that she's going to head back to a Galaxy Far, Far Away.

"Honestly, I have no idea. I feel like Rey’s story ended in a wonderful way with the last film [Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker]," Ridley admitted. "It’s already been an insane three years since that film came out. I feel like quite a different person. We’ve all gone through a massive change in the last three years, with lots of crazy things happening."

"So I really don’t know if there are plans. I just don’t know. But ultimately, I loved my experience, I loved what I got to do and I love the people I got to work with. So, should that happen again, even once, amazing. Because the dream is to really be around nice people that make you feel good and feel heard while you do good work."

If Rey does show up, we'd assume it would be for little more than a cameo or supporting role as it does seem a little too soon to focus on one of those sequel characters as a lead again.

On the other hand, if a future movie can improve on what we saw in The Rise of Skywalker, bring it on! With no details revealed about any of the upcoming movies beyond the various writers and directors working on them, we're going to have to wait and see.

Really?

@marvel72 - I love whenever an actor is asked a question that is potentially linked to a NDA. Not sure what people expect to hear? It's like asking actors to just act on command, unless you're Andrew Garfield. Bless you Andrew.

Here is for an idea, take Rey a few years after the ending of epi 9, show her pregnant, then say that there is no father (like Anakin) and that is the will of the force. The kid would technically also be an actual Skywalker, because Ben Skywalker (Kylo Ren) put his life force in Rey in the end of epi 9. Go forward like 20 years into the future and make him the main character. Call him Cade Skywalker (cause he's the best Skywalker after Luke in the extended universe), and make him exactly like the comics, a pirate/smuggler with force powers who doesn't wanna follow in the footsteps of his family. And leave all the sequel characters in the past.

I really liked Rey in FA and watched that movie dozens of time looking forward to more. I had same complaints others had about it but just like the prequels I didn't care if it wasn't perfect, I loved the story and the story is why I love SW. But then TLJ happened and the story was destroyed and corrupted and no longer made any sense in the universe that is SW.

Without a retcon of Disney SW movies as a huge life-long SW fan (doing a chronological rewatch of Clone Wars now actually, just got to season 6 woohoo)) I won't be interested in them at all except to mock them and the people writing and directing and green-lighting them.

''I feel like Rey’s story ended in a wonderful way with the last film''

Yeah, Rey ending all alone on a sandy planet sliding down dunes is a great way to show the journey she went on.

Anyway, I think she'll return for the inevitable threequel trilogy.

@Matchesz - Only when it comes to his Knives Out/Glass Onion/Poker Face films. With Star Wars, not so much.

Maybe she could be a crusty old lady living in seclusion. That would be awesome.

Ridley should try to build a better career. She wasted most of her 20s in terrible Disney Star Wars. She should try to do better with her last decade of youth.

These are just rumors with no solid evidence. We'll get a Jar Jar Binks solo film before diving back into the Rey storyline again.

I'm ok if the disney trilogy is written off as like an alternate universe.

Absolutely not. Those 3 movies should be slowly and fully erased from history.

JJ Abrams and Kathleen Kennedy damaged the Star Wars lore so much with their sequel films that there is no excitement for any new stories set during or after the sequel movies. The way forward is in the past.
