STAR WARS: Daisy Ridley Talks Possible Return As Rey Following Rumors She'll Be Part Of Future Movies

With rumours swirling that Daisy Ridley will return to the Star Wars Galaxy as Rey Skywalker, the actress has now shared her thoughts on whether there's a chance she's going to play the character again...

The Star Wars sequels remain incredibly divisive, and while The Last Jedi still generates heated discussion among fans, the way The Rise of Skywalker wrapped things up has proven to be an even bigger point of contention.

Simply put, it wasn't a particularly satisfying - or good - ending, and the open-ended nature of Rey declaring herself a Skywalker (not to mention Finn's apparent Jedi powers emerging) left the door at least somewhat ajar to more stories being told with these characters. Could that happen in one of the many big screen projects in various stages of development at Lucasfilm?

Rumour has it future movies will all be set after the events of the sequels, and while some actors (John Boyega, for example), seem to have little interest in reprising their roles, Daisy Ridley isn't shooting down the prospect of playing Rey again.

Talking to The Hollywood Reporter (via SFFGazette.com), the British actress addressed recent rumours that she's going to head back to a Galaxy Far, Far Away.

"Honestly, I have no idea. I feel like Rey’s story ended in a wonderful way with the last film [Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker]," Ridley admitted. "It’s already been an insane three years since that film came out. I feel like quite a different person. We’ve all gone through a massive change in the last three years, with lots of crazy things happening."

"So I really don’t know if there are plans. I just don’t know. But ultimately, I loved my experience, I loved what I got to do and I love the people I got to work with. So, should that happen again, even once, amazing. Because the dream is to really be around nice people that make you feel good and feel heard while you do good work."

If Rey does show up, we'd assume it would be for little more than a cameo or supporting role as it does seem a little too soon to focus on one of those sequel characters as a lead again.

On the other hand, if a future movie can improve on what we saw in The Rise of Skywalker, bring it on! With no details revealed about any of the upcoming movies beyond the various writers and directors working on them, we're going to have to wait and see.
