While Smith (Doctor Who) has just been mentioned as having gone in for a meeting, Flemyng (X-Men: First Class) appears to have a copy of the script -- could he have actually been cast in the movie already? Read on for more.

We know that Disney and director J.J. Abrams are casting a very wide net to try to fill the various roles in Star Wars Episode VII, so news of yet another actor going in to read for a part isn't exactly a big deal anymore. Still, this should pique Doctor Who fans' interest: Bleeding Cool cite a "fairly well-placed source" as claiming that former Time Lord Matt Smith has gone in to meet for a role. Whether that's an actual screen test or just a chat with the head honchos is unclear, but it's entirely possible Smith could swap a sonic screwdriver for a lightsaber.

It seems X-Men: First Class actor Jason Flemyng is having a little read through the script for Star Wars Episode VII while he downs pints. Has he been cast? He literally has a script with his name on it at any rate, so he would at least appear to be up for a role. I'm not sure broadcasting this fact online is the wisest decision on his part, but there ya go. Obviously none of this is official..until it's official, but what do you guys make of the latest names to be linked to the movie?
