So it turns out Daniel Craig was telling porkies. After being outed by Simon Pegg for making a Stormtrooper cameo in J.J. Abrams' Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the James Bond star shot down the rumor as complete nonsense. "Why would I ever bother doing something like that?” Craig asked EW at the time. “F—ing hell! Pffft. Play an extra in another movie.” Now, the same outlet has confirmed that the actor did indeed slip into the Stormtrooper uniform and appeared in a brief scene - even delivering a few lines!
But this is where things get a bit SPOILERY, so if you haven't seen the movie yet you're advised not to read on.
Okay? Okay.
So there's a scene in the film after Rey (Daisy Ridley) is captured by the First Order and is strapped to a chair for interrogation. At this point she's realized she is Force-sensitive, and tries to make one of the Stormtroopers guarding her set her free. After a couple of attempts she manages it, but not before said Stormtrooper threatens to "tighten those restraints, scavenger scum." Yeah... that was Daniel Craig apparently!
I didn't recognize his voice because obviously I wasn't listening out for it, but I most definitely will be when I see Star Wars: The Force Awakens again tomorrow. Did any of you guys cop it?
