October 30th, 2012. A day which will forever be remembered as the beginning of a new era for Star Wars. You can read more details about Disney's acquisition of LucasFilm by clicking HERE. In a conference call earlier today, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of The Walt Disney Company Bob Iger confirmed that there are plans to release new Star Wars movies every other year (the first is obviously set to be released in 2015), with a story treatment for episodes 7, 8 and 9 part of the deal. The rights to Indiana Jones were also included, but there's currently no plans to move ahead with that at the current time. Star Wars however looks set to also find a new home on Disney XD and in various video games, though not necessarily on consoles. Below, George Lucas, Bob Iger and Kathleen Kennedy talk more about the future of one of the most beloved franchises of all-time.

They are going to throw so much money into the sequels. This could be very intriguing. And they said 7 8 and 9 + other movies. I want to know the other movies. KOTOR please, thanks.

If they go with the newer stories, I vote for David Lyons for the aged, grittier Luke.

Please Disney. Please do not make the Sith soft. Thats the only thing I fear. They might make what i feel in the star wars galaxy is the closest thing to Black Magic soft.

There will be a new direction for the Star Wars franchise. Disney having the copyrights of Star Wars is a good thing. At least they have plans to make the Star Wars franchise revelant again. I hope we finally get a solid Star Wars movie.

So, did Lucas offer the company to Disney? He made it sound that way, at least.

Feel guilty to be happy about Star Wars 7 while we got people suffering because of 'Sandy'.
I know those people arent reading this thread but I'm thinking of them.

I think this is a good thing. As long as the Original trilogy is not rebooted or anything ridiculous i can live with this decisions and hats off to George Lucas for being able to sell a company and stories he built from the ground up. If it was not for hime there would not be any such thing as Star Wars. But I think if Disney can handle the Avengers then they will be a good home for the Star Wars franchise.

Get ready for a Jerry bruckheimer Indiana Jones film. just kidding. I think that Disney owning Star wars will be good. look what they did with the MCU. Of course Joss Whedon might end up with the directing position
