Young Han Solo Concept Art & Dialog From STAR WARS: III

As most Star Wars fans are probably aware, Han Solo was supposed to appear briefly in the third of the prequel movies, Revenge Of The Sith. Now that the character is rumored to be getting a spin-off, check out these early concept designs and see what you think..

Fans thanked the Dark Lord for small mercies when George Lucas decided against a cameo from a young Han Solo in his third prequel film, but the scene was planned. Now we hear word that one of the upcoming Star Wars spin-offs from Disney might focus on the early days of the Corellian smuggler, so we've unearthed (via Collider) some of this old concept art. Apparently the character was supposed to be about 10, and as you can see he went in for slightly more of an unkempt look than his older self.

Here is the conversation you could have heard between he and Yoda..

HAN SOLO
I found part of a transmitter droid near the east bay… I think it’s still sending and receiving signals.

YODA
Good. Good. Track this we can back to the source. Find General Grievous, we might…

There were three decent novels back in the day featuring Han Solo stories before Ep. 111. These were his smuggling days and showed not only what an ass he could be but how devious and cunning and screw it all attitude. It also explained his origin as a pilot who trained at the Emperial Academy and how he met Chewie. That would be interesting with the right person playing the main.

Thank God this didn't happen. Prequels had enough useless cameos.

*sigh*

If this was pre prequels, everyone would be crying over how awesome such cameos would be.

But now that everyone saw Lucas do it BADLY, they think only negatively of the cameos.

Such cameos are awesome, if done well.

Can't we just pretend that the prequels never happened?

Would have been more canon fodder. han said to Luke he'd been from one end of the galexy to the other and he'd never seen anything that would convice him of an all powerful force.. blah blah blah

[frick]ing ridiculous! I was exited for the OT sequels coming up, but these stand alone movies puts it right back in prequel territory!

Yoda? Fine, he's a puppet/cg. Boba Fett, good! Chewbacca would be great, maybe ending with someone saving him from slavery, just hearing Harrison Ford's voice, never seeing him.

But who the hell can match Harrison Ford as Han Solo, it's just another prequel all over again!

Hilarious when grown men rant, rave and complain about a series of films targeting a 6-13 year old audience.

A young Han Solo was supposed to appear in Episode III??? I never knew that.

It was probably for the best, because that doesn't look like Han Solo to me.

Well that's just the most blatant proof that not only did Lucas not care about the EU, he didn't care about the previous so-called cannon he himself established either. I just hope these new movies carry out that tradition and contradict the PT every chance they get.

According to what was previously established lore, Solo was an Imperial officer. Chewbacca was captured by the Empire and Solo freed him and they became smugglers, which makes more sense than this crap they tried to do in the prequels.

ALL of the 'original' canon made more sense than this crap

Wow, I thought the prequels couldn't have been worse, I guess it cold have been.

Han Solo shouldn't have ANY connection to any of the star wars main characters until "A New Hope"

The whole point was the coming together of separate individuals almost accidentally, going on a journey together.

Christ I really hope we dont see a child lead for the han solo film. It should be a 20 odd yr old han,

but preferably I wouldve like to have seen new characters for the leads no ones gonna get anywhere near Ford so whats the point, just start again in the same universe with a few of the old characters linking the old with the new but nothing more.

New films based in The Star Wars universe is enough, if we get luke n han n that back get the original cast to just play supporting roles in films based around new characters

Reading that page, I see some things that would make Episode III better, like Palpatine arranging for Anakin's mother to be killed to push him over the edge, and telling him that Dooku did it is even better! They should have had way more manipulation of Anakin other than "save Padme." And I like the idea that delving so deep into the Force Lightning deformed Palpatine, rather than being melted by Windu's lightsaber deflecting the lightning.
