Arnold Talks Terminator Salvation And Possible Sequels

Being Governor means you have no time to do the little stuff. If your Arnold Schwarzenegger the little stuff is appearing in the sequel of the franchise that shot you to stardom.

The LA Times scored an interview with Arnold Schwarzenegger, the governor of California and mentioned he'd gladly be in Terminator: Salvation, long as he didn't have to do anything:

“I made it very clear that I don't have the time to do the movie,” he said. “I said that I would be willing to be in the movie if they get the technology together, and so they are working on that right now.” In the film, a prequel to the original, Schwarzenegger would be in a brief scene in which the main character encounters him as a “future Terminator,” according to the governor. “I think it’s cool to continue on with the franchise ... in case I want to jump over again and get into the acting after I'm through here,” he said. The governor said he did not yet know what other opportunities might present themselves after he completes his term in less than two years, but he also suggested that he might write a book about his time in office.

FIRST!

COOL!!!!

That is the Best News I've heard!

I wonder if they are thinking about Making Arnold CG and using his Voice to go along with the Live Actors...

Kinda like with the Hulk or Transformers... You know, make him Look as life like as possible.

Yeah...I mean...they can just make CGI Arnold and Roll...

That way All Arnold has to do is lend his Voice over to them!

I work with 3D animation so I KNOW it can be done and Look as Realistic as possible!

That would be Great!

I would love to see Arnold in the movie as the human face upon whom the T-101's human outer covering was based. I'm not so interested in him reprising his actual terminator role unless it was in a battle with an army of all the same model (same face), or the assembly line.

Damn yall...you are going to make me dig up my info...what they did was get Roland Kickinger to play the body of Arnold and they are using a CGI program to meld his face over rolands body. Check out rolands history....he is the guy everyone said should play Arnold.

Sort of old news now, but he is playing a T-800
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0452199/

While you are at it check out Brian Steele
He is playing a T-600....Big guy who played in Residence Evil Extinction, Underworld, and Hellboy 2.

man i should start my own fansite page here...I stay on the net and dig up so much stuff b4 I see it posted.

Is it just me or do you guys read his comments with the Arrrnold voice in your head?

"get into the acting after I'm through here" - No offense but I don't think Skynet is into the manufacture of zimmer-frame sporting terminators. Hang on! What better way to infiltrate the human camp? Who would suspect the honest blue badge holder! Plus, they will take him in just so they can park where they like!

So long as he didn't have to do anything???

Why not just create a wax version of him & have it standing off in the background... or CGI it...

Same thing = not doing anything....

Well since it is rumored that Robert Patrick will be involved with the NEXT film and rumor has it that it will be taking place in 2029 AND will be centered around the time-displacement equipment, bringing both of them in for any sized roles makes a ton of sense. They can easily CGI both of them to look younger and we can see them being sent back in time. Awesome.

(And yes, I'm fine with CGIing their faces on other actors and using their voices too.)

Does anyone actually think Tobey McGuire was swinging around the city? They don't even technically need Arnold to do it so what's the problem? It'll be fine.

SdProphet,
You're talking about "The Expendables" which is a movie where Stallone has a team of mercenaries going into South Africa. It doesn't have Van Damme or Segal but it does have Stallone, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Jason Statham, Randy Couture, Danny Trejo, "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, Forest Whitaker, Mickey Rourke, and Eric Roberts, among others. And yes, Arnold is in it, BUT as a cameo where he actually plays himself as Governor Arnold Schwarzenneger.

ARE THEY GOING TO PUT SUMMER GLAU IN THERE? CONNECT THE MOVIE WITHT HE TV SERIES IN SOME SORTA WAY, THAT WAY WE CAN HAVE TERMINATOR ON A REGULAR BASIS WITHOUT IT GETTING CANCELLED
MetalHead
MetalHead - 4/22/2009, 6:10 PM
No they aren't connecting it to the show and doing that would totally F up the entire timeline. The 2 need to stay seperate because of the things that they've done in the show. And they aren't things that they could go back in and connect-- it's totally F'ed. I love the show but they need to be 2 different entitites. And not to mention that the events in "The Sarah Connor Chronicles" wiped out the existence of "Terminator 3" (which I was so happy about) but I'm not sure yet if "Terminator: Salvation" acknowledges the third movie. There is a novel out called "Terminator Salvation: From the Ashes (the Official Movie Prequel Novel)" which I will be getting tomorrow. That will fill us in as to what timeline the next 3 movies will be working with.

@SdProphet90

Are you talking about the T-1000, cause she has been in this whole season, or are talking about the giant plane that smashed through the window? I would like to see characters from the show appear in this movie, maybe Summer Glau (Cameron) taking a stroll in the background or something, either as a terminator or her human self i don't care but she is hot and that is all that matters.

MetalHead - 4/23/2009, 11:29 AM
Well, since you brought it up LEEE, here's an idea that I've had for years...

I thought that "Predator 2" should've taken place in LA in present day (early '90s). Here's what I would've done, and ever since I had the idea it annoys the hell out of me that it wasn't done:

I would've had Stallone be a cop in LA, but not a regular cop-- basically similar to the type that Danny Glover was. I wouldn't have done all the cheesy stuff like the Rastafarian drug lord stuff, etc.

So we'd find out that this Predator is hunting Stallone and picking off his team. We, the audience would know what it was but he'd have no idea and he'd assume that it was just a gang or something. Stallone would then start trying to track it, having no idea what he's up against. Then there's a situation KIND OF like where Gary Busey's character grabbed Danny Glover's character and brought him into the trailer, but it would be done way better and less cheesy. HOWEVER, instead of Gary Busey this character would have been played by Arnold and we'd learn that ever since the events in the first movie that he had put together a team and was working with a government agency. This government agency would have known about the existence of the Predators for quite some time and even knew what they were sending Dutch's team into in the first movie, basically making us realize that the government had been trying to track Predators for many years.

So they'd fill in Stallone's character on what they were dealing with. They'd tell him that they've been watching him for a while now because they received information on the circumstances of the death of Stallone's first team member who was killed and they knew immediately that it was a Predator that had killed him. (He would have been skinned, hung upside down and maybe something like the weapon used was something that the local cops had no idea what could have done it.)

And from there, they begin to hunt it. Lots of action, stuff blowing up, guys getting body parts severed, etc.-- the usual stuff that you see in these types of movies.

That's about all that I had come up with in my mind, and then you'd factor in that the government agency had a conspiracy-type thing going where they didn't want to kill the Predator, they wanted to capture it to research it and experiment on it, and as a result more people are killed since the agency wasn't trying to kill it, etc. And depending on the situation/how the story goes, if the writers felt it would work the team could actually find that there are 2 (or more) Predators hunting Stallone & his team.

I'd still end it in a similar way with the ship because that was badass. If there was a point to me coming up with a whole story (like if they'd actually go back in time and do it this way) then I'd think it out more. Instead I'll just wish that it had happened that way.

What do you think?
LEEE777
LEEE777 - 4/23/2009, 12:01 PM
Geez METALHEAD!!! Well that would've made a damn fine PREDATOR movie an would've made Big Box office too!! Pat yourself on the back, that would've been Awesome man!!! ; ) .. It's funny, i always thought ARNOLD could've been STALLONE's clone brother in JUDGE DREDD!!! With a better story an more to the comic, that would've been great!!! I think i read once, why they hav'nt done a movie together, was that STALLONE's smaller and don't like being over shadowed??? Look at ROCKY 4! In RAMBO 3 i heard for alot of the scences he stood on boxes to look bigger than everyone else??? But ya gotta love ol' STALLONE!!! I really hope they do do a movie together, an soon, it'll be BIG!!! Oh yeah, loved STALLONE in TWINS!!! He was THE TERMINATOR lol! : D
MetalHead
MetalHead - 4/23/2009, 12:20 PM
Actually here's another little tidbit you may or may not have known: Stallone originally wanted Arnold to play Ivan Drago in "Rocky IV" (one of my all-time favorites-- it's still just as good every time you watch it). Even though that would have been badass I'm glad they went with Dolph Lundgren.

That would make sense about what you said regarding their difference in size. I never heard that but I believe it. And not even in the sense that Stallone is being a douche bag, but if he looked tiny next to Arnold on the screen it would definitely take away from the effectiveness of him looking tough.

I'll admit, I only saw "Judge Dredd" once when it first came out so I can't comment on it. Maybe I'll grab a copy this weekend.

I guess you guys might be interested to know, that according to wikipedia Arnold and Sly were originally considered as the lead stars for the 1997 movie "FACE/OFF". Still Cage and Travolta made a great job. I'm still keeping my fingers cross these two iconic stars would do a project together of the same storyline or two semi- retired soldiers. Like LEEE777 suggested Rambo vs Commando.

I must've accidentally skipped over your line the first time I read it about a Commando vs. Rambo movie, LEEE777. Yeah, that would definitely be cool. Unfortunately, IF Arnold decides to get back into acting when he's done as Governor, I don't see him taking any roles where he has his shirt off for the majority of the time. It's too bad we can't get the '80s & '90s back. There are so many cool things that could be done with those guys (and others) combined with the technology of today that would make for so many badass movies.

As far as "Face/Off" goes, I love Arnold movies but he would not have been good for that role at all. There are certain scenes that I can exactly imagine him replacing John Travolta in and it makes me laugh. And that's not a good thing since it was a movie with a pretty serious tone.

does anyone know if some company is going to do a cgi make over for terminator 1? if they updated the cgi at the end of the movie when the terminator is chasing sarah and kyle that would be awesome!!!!!!!!!!

That was the best terminator movie so far. its just hard to watch seeing a live model in a close up scene and than shitty pre cgi in its walking scenes. j/w
