I recently had the opportunity to talk to Academy Award-winning actor Jeff Bridges about the social impact of technology and the technology that went into Tron: Legacy at Disney's "Comic-Tron" party and Bridges spoke more about the subject in an interview with MTV.

"It was very exciting to be a part of that. "That was one of the reasons that got me involved in Tron in the first place, was to be a part of that cutting-edge technology. This one takes it to the Nth degree, really."

Bridges went on to say that technology opens up many new possibilities for actors.

"Playing the young [version of myself], we did a lot of work in a space called The Volume where you record your motion capture work. That was a completely unique experience for me, I had never done that. But, you know, it's great to be able to play a character in a story any age you want now. I could play my character when he's four years old now; that's a great thing to be able to do."

Tron: Legacy opens December 17

Studio execs must like what they see of Tron so far because Kosinski is directing a remake of The Black Hole and he has two other sci-fi projects in the works, Archangels and Oblivion!

It's very impressive. It's only been a year, but it's much better looking than what they did with Arnold's face in Terminator Salvation. It's not perfect, but this sort of technology is improving rapidly.

@BIGBMH: Yeah, if you look really closely at the footage of "young Bridges" in the Tron: Legacy trailer, you can see that there's something not quite right with his mouth when he talks, but it's pretty damn near perfect. Plus, Bridges said that they're going to keep polishing the effects right up until the release so hopefully it will improve.

You're avatar is funny, but that movie was t-e-r-r-i-b-l-e! Sorry.

@jazzman: Yeah, I would be up for a darker, more menacing Green Lantern, but I have a feeling it's going to be a much "lighter" movie. Ba-dump-bum!

I think they couldmhave made his younger version look a lot more like his actually younger self. I think it looks a little too cg still. but i am happy they are doing this. It means the more they try the better it will get and soon we will see old actors coming back to life :)

@Brent, I noticed the mouth looked a little weird and theres just this kind of weird smoothness to the face, but since it's a computer world anyway, I think it will work fine. Just imagine this tech 10 years from now. It'll be flawless!
As for Blankman, I was 3 years old when it came out, so as a kid, I thought it was actually a serious movie. I also thought Steel was a great movie back then, but that's besides the point. But, yeah it's pretty bad. I still have a soft spot for it though.

I'm the old head here , Tron was so breathtaking that I put it up with Star Wars as far as visual effect went. The animated sequences in the original still hold up today. Tron Legacy looks equally promising. It will do well. Also like to mention this about Jeff Bridges, he has always been one of my favorite actors. You younger fans should go back and look at his filmography. You'll be a huge fan of his work.

@BIGBMH 10years try just a couple. Tech advances every 18 months if not sooner. This shit will be upon us before we even know it. Bridges even said they were working on polishing him up a lil bit so hopefully before its release it will look even better.

This technology is in it's infancy really. And it's particularly exciting if you think of what they could do with say Harrison Ford doing a younger Indiana Jones.Or by some miracle reprising the role of Han Solo.
