SHANG-CHI AND THE LEGEND OF THE TEN RINGS Hi-Res Promo Art Reveals Costumes, Ten Rings, And Story Spoilers

Packaging for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings action figures reveals new looks at the title character, The Mandarin, Xialing, Death Dealer, and even features a bunch of fresh story details!

With Marvel's entire Phase 4 slate delayed, it was inevitable that toy leaks would happen. In some stores, Marvel Legends action figures for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings are already on sale, and this hi-res look at four of them leaves us with lots to unpack (no pun intended).

To begin with, we get our best look to date at Shang-Chi's superhero costume, and it seems to be a slightly more intricate version of what we're used to seeing him wear in the comics.

Xialing looks pretty cool, and Death Dealer is undeniably fierce (he's also described as "one of the most formidable opponents Shang-Chi has ever faced"). It's Wenwu who brings the biggest reveal, however, as we see what appear to be the Ten Rings wrapped around his forearms rather than his fingers. This is an unexpected choice, but so too is this interpretation of The Mandarin in general. This certainly isn't what we expected from the orchestrator of Tony Stark's kidnap, anyway!

The character bios on the packaging also bring some big reveals, including Shang-Chi and Xialing being Wenwu's children. This does line up with plot leaks, and it sounds like they'll both be fighting back against their father and the Ten Rings organisation throughout the course of this adventure.

Well, this confirms that The Mandarin is Shang Chi's dad. His design here leaves something to be desired. Hopefully the character is done as well as fake Mandarin:

Also, the Mandarin has technically already appeared in the MCU:

@Darkknight2149 - That has been confirmed since comic con of 2019

@PantherKing -
I only recall them announcing The Mandarin's role in the film and people speculating that he would be Shang Chi's dad because of Fu Manchu.

@Darkknight2149 -
I expect absolutely nothing to come from this comic.

Same. Although I do wonder about this:

Dude's been MIA since The Incredible Hulk.

Bruh I though this was the legend of the ten rings not the legend of the ten wrist bands. They look really generic.

I do like how they included the original ten rings logo from the iron man movies on Wenwu’s and Death Dealer’s belts though.

@JFerguson - Shang chi and the legend of the live strong wrist bands.

@newhire13 - Its not a weird complaint at all. People want to see the 10 rings. With each one having its own ability. These just look like they are there for no reason, or to maybe help him when fighting. They certainly don't look like they're going to be shooting fire, ice, or desintegration rays lol.

@CorndogBurglar - is it too much to just want a man with a widows peak, garish green robes and 10 magical rings?

@Gustopia - lol nope. Not at all. But people would shit themselves amd say its a racial stereotype.

@CorndogBurglar - that sounds a lot like infinity stones and we just got done with those. I think there’s some folks out there like me that don’t want that. It’s just too similar. Disney plus shows are doing great at not looking towards a set of objects as the macguffin to an overall story

Costumes are okay, just okay. Not bad, but nothing really iconic about them

@micvalpro - I think they're cooler than the Eternals' ones. Wenwu just needs green.

@Mrtoke - They always complain. MCU Shang Chi costume looks good compared to that trash tracksuit in the comics.

CorndogBurglar

@Mrtoke - That was always the point of his track suit costume and him using nunchuks. He was always something of a play on Bruce Lee. But that may be exactly what they're trying to get away from.

I don't know. I'm disappointed with what we're seeing of Mandarin so far, but to me, this movie was always going to live or die by the martial arts. If they can make this movie feel like an old school martial arts movie, or AT LEAST have phenominal fight scenes then I'll probably be able to overlook everything else.

Shang-Chi's costume is exactly how he usually dresses in the comics, don't see the huge problem in here. Death Dealer looks pretty cool. With Mandarin I believe they were trying to stay away from any stereotype, which is understandable.

@Repian - Yes! Automatically thought about that as well. Such a great movie. Stephen Chow's style fits the MCU so well, but I don't think Shang Chi will get that level of craziness based on the director's record.

Please don’t let them have cocked this up again. The Mandarin is such a key character and the fake version we saw in Ironman 3 was so good. Hopefully that toy is not the full story.
