IT And SHAZAM! Star Jack Dylan Grazer Under Fire For Homophobic Slurs

While most of the internet is reacting positively to the recent Shazam! trailer, one of the film's stars is being criticized for homophobic comments in recently uncovered DMs.

Earlier this weekend, following the premiere of the recent Shazam! trailer, one Twitter user uploaded a video of a series of DMs by one of the film's stars, Jack Dylan Glazer, who plays Freddie in the film. The video, originally uploaded by Grazer's ex-girlfriend Talia, features the actor making several homophic remarks about men who wear makeup, including use of the word f*g, sometime in 2017, around the time he was cast in the upcoming film.

Earlier this week, James Gunn came under fire for a several inappropriate jokes made in the past, some dating back to nearly a decade ago. He has since apologized (once when the tweets first resurfaced in 2012 when he was first hired to direct Guardians of the Galaxy, and earlier this week when he was fired from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 for the same comments). While those were public "jokes" at the time, and these DM's from Grazer were private comments made public later on, with a current rise of accountability in Hollywood for previous statements, actions and behavior, it is unknown how (if at all) this may impact the film.

@HeavyMetal4Life -
Just a few days after James Gunn got his entire career ruined over jokes (yes, JOKES, albeit unfunny "edgy" ones) that he made a decade ago and apologised for in 2012, we're now putting a child actor on blast for... Acting like a child? Are we now going to ruin a kid's entire acting career (possibly for the rest of his life) just for being a kid?

@Darkknight2149 - exactly. This culture of destroying lives is unacceptable. These two aren't Harvey Weinstein. If stuff like this, dirt essentially, is going to continue to be used as a weapon, then society has a major problem.

@Darkknight2149 - he didn't apologize for his tweets, he apologized for a 2011 blog post.

@HeavyMetal4Life - For real, slurring gay people is one of this country's greatest honors. Next they'll be outraged about calling black people nig*ers.

@Talontd - yeah thats not good. But he is 14. 14 year old's can say pretty dumb things because.... well they're 14. His parents should be taking care of this. Not the media and comments threads.

@Talontd - And yet, I've watched Youtube videos that advised to say these kind of stuff to seduce a girl (the idea being you'll stand out and could match with a girl thinking alike - yikes).
