When Entertainment Tonight caught up with J.K. Simmons at the Film Independent Awards last weekend, the Academy Award-winning actor was asked for the umpteenth time about potentially reprising his role as J Jonah Jameson from the original Spider-Man trilogy over to Marvel and Sony’s planned reboot. For specifically, Simmons was asked to weigh in on the petition fans had launched to ensure he somehow returns as the beloved character.
“That petition does not come from anybody that is actually in a position to do anything about it,” assured J.K. Simmons. However, should he get the unlikely opportunity to play the Daily Bugle publisher opposite Tom Holland’s Peter Parker, the actor reiterated that he'd certainly be open to it. “Being in those movies with Sam [Raimi] was one of the great joys of my career. It was a super fun character so I'll never close the door on anything.”
