SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING Estimated To Finish Its Box Office Run In The High $700+ Million Range
Even conservative estimates have the final box office tally for Marvel's Spider-Man: Homecoming finishing ahead of the previous two Andrew Garfield-led iterations. But what about the Raimi films?
Spider-Man: Homecoming closed out last week with a worldwide box office total of $702 million and has added another $7 million in the last 5 days and currently sits at $709 million.
According to Forbes, the film has another $10-12 million on the table here in North America, $20-30 million in Japan (where it just opened last week) and another $30-40 million in China, where it opens in September. That would give Homecoming a final worldwide box office finish somewhere between $760-$790 million.
That would easily eclipse the two installments in Sony's Amazing Spider-Man franchise but the film could fall short of the Sami Raimi-directed Spidey pics, whose lowest box office return was with Spider-Man 2 ($783.7 million).
Still, Sony and Marvel's decision to slash the film's production budget from the $230+ million spent on each of the Amazing Spider-Man films to the $175 million spent on Homecoming means the film is already a box office success.
