Sony has finally given us our first proper look at Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, the highly anticipated animated feature about Marvel's friendly neighbourhood web-slinger - but this is a different kind of Spider-Man movie than we're used to seeing on the big screen, and not just because it's about Miles Morales (although that is a pretty big deal also!).

The highly stylized film introduces the limitless possibilities of the Spider-Verse, where there is more than one who dons the mask. Of course, Morales will be front-and-center as he takes his first steps in becoming the next Spider-Man.

Today's trailer expands upon December's teaser, providing more context on the relationship between Miles Morales (voiced by Shameik Moore) and an aging Peter Parker (voiced by New Girl's Jake Johnson). It also gives us a taste of some of the humor injected into the film, which makes sense considering its producers are Phil Lord and Christopher Miller. Enough chat though, check out the first full trailer for  Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.

In addition, Sony also made a few casting announcements. Most notably, Hailee Steinfeld (Bumblebee) is playing the spunky, free-spirited Spider-Gwen, which was shown briefly towards the end of the trailer. Other cast members include Oscar winner Mahershala Ali as Miles' influential uncle Aaron, Brian Tyree Henry playing Miles' father Jefferson, Luna Lauren Velez as Miles' mother Rio, and Lily Tomlin as Aunt May.

We've got a new poster as well.

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse swings into theaters December 14, 2018.

@aflynn - they should’ve saved her for a surprise. She shouldn’t have been in the trailer.

@WruceBayne - Yeah, Sony's pretty infamous about spelling stuff out in the trailers. But this is a Spider-verse adaptation. There's bound to be more versions to be shocked by.

I wasn’t even remotely interested in a theatrical animated Spider-Man film, despite my love for Miles Morales but I’ve been really liking what I’ve been seeing from this.
