Madame Web was quietly released on Digital platforms today, a sure-fire sign Sony Pictures has given up on the Marvel movie's theatrical run. It has, after all, made only $96.9 million since opening over a month ago!

There's only one deleted scene bundled with the Digital copy of the film and, as best we can tell, it's a fairly meaningless moment involving Ben Parker and Mattie Franklin. That's disappointing as the prevailing theory is there must be a very different version of Madame Web somewhere out there, likely with a greater focus on Spider-Man and the wider Spdier-Verse.

A few weeks ago, director SJ Clarkson revealed why the movie doesn't include a post-credits scene.

"We played around with some stuff, but again, I kind of felt like we'd said everything, but it was almost like, again, because I don't want to go into spoiler turf, but the way the story ended and then we have an ending and then something else," the filmmaker explained. "I felt that I was kind of given something in the end, if you know what I mean. So when you watch it, you'll see."

"Because it's like there's the scene where we sort of end and then there's another thing, and then there's this scene, which could have been it," Clarkson added. "But then because she has clairvoyance, I was able to see it in the movie because she saw that credit scene earlier, so we might as well just have it upfront."

We also have some hi-res screenshots from Madame Web showcasing those eye-catching costumes. As you can see, Sony really did just recycle that shot of the three Spider-Women from earlier in the film for the final shot of the trio standing side-by-side with their mentor, Cassie Webb.

While we won't ever get a Madame Web sequel, it appears the idea was for Cassie to lead Spider-Woman, Spider-Girl, and Araña into action as a spectral projection, similar to Doctor Strange when he goes into his Astral form.

Check out Madame Web's gag reel, and those screenshots, below.

Meanwhile, in another universe...In a switch from the typical genre, Madame Web tells the standalone origin story of one of Marvel publishing's most enigmatic heroines.

The suspense-driven thriller stars Dakota Johnson as Cassandra Webb, a paramedic in Manhattan who may have clairvoyant abilities. Forced to confront revelations about her past, she forges a relationship with three young women destined for powerful futures...if they can all survive a deadly present.

The movie stars Dakota Johnson, Sydney Sweeney, Celeste O’Connor, Isabela Merced, Tahar Rahim, Mike Epps, Emma Roberts, and Adam Scott.

Madame Web is now playing in theaters worldwide.

I saw the movie once… I’ll probably never watch it again. The script sucked but Dakota might’ve done the worst acting I’ve ever seen in a super hero film and that says alot because I’ve seen Jesse Eisenberg as Lex and Leto as any cbm character.

How is it so hard to get decent writers in Hollywood? Not saying that it would have made money if it did have good writing, but how does this, morbius, etc suck so hard when any 3 dorks I know could come up with a better script over a long weekend?

Madame Web's final look is realky bad,but I do think the three Spider-Women look great. Wouldn't mind seeing more of them (in the inevitable Spider-Verse movie).
