(We know. THAT image haunts us, too.)
Insomniac Games have been hard at work on their current project, Marvel's Spider-Man 2, over the past few years. They've been working so hard in fact, that the only piece of content we've been able to go off of...is the teaser trailer that was released back in September...of 2021. Oh, & THAT wretched image of Miles & Peter staring at the camera. Ever since then, it's pretty much been radio silence from Insomniac, Marvel, & Sony. Until now...
It seems that we now have some more official marketing at last! Insomniac has teamed up with Marvel to create a prequel tie-in comic! Jon Paquette, narrative director over at Insomniac, gives all the details.
This comic will explore the current lives of Peter Parker, Miles Morales, & Mary Jane, detailing what this trio has been up to since the events of Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales. They will find themselves facing off against a new supervillain named The Hood, who possesses magical powers that are beyond what the Spider-Men can handle or comprehend. The comic is written by Christos Gage, who was also one of the writers on Marvel's Spider-Man, with the spectacular art being done by artist Ig Guara.
To celebrate Free Comic Book Day on May 6th, fans in the U.S. can find a participating comic book store or download the comic digitally via the Marvel Unlimited app. The comic will finally be available worldwide at a later date, suggests Jon Paquette.
"But that's not all folks. Here's the real blockbuster. Brace yourselves, you might want to sit down..."
In addition to all of this, Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered will finally become a standalone release later this month!
The game will be available for $49.99. However, if you already own the game on PS4, be it digital or disc, then the upgrade will only be $10. If you own Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales, you can obtain Remastered for $20 by upgrading to the Ultimate Edition at the main menu. This is definitely a great treat that will give certain people a chance to revisit the original in upgraded form if they weren't able to before.
It definitely seems like Insomniac is aware of fans being impatient due to the lack of news, but all this new info should get them excited, especially now that we are closing in on the release of the sequel. It seems that the marketing is finally just getting started!
Marvel's Spider-Man 2 swings onto the PS5 this fall.
