Tobey Maguire is out and Twilight’s Robert Pattinson is in as Spider-Man in Spider-Man 4!

UPDATE: 4/2 - If you haven't figured it out yet, this was an April Fool's Day fake story.

In an official Sony Pictures press release, it was announced that Robert Pattinson (Twilight) will be replacing Tobey Maguire as Peter Parker and Spider-Man in Spider-Man 4.


Sony boss Amy Pascal has Pattinson signed on for not only Spider-Man 4, but also Spider-Man 5 and a third, undisclosed spin-off film.

So, what did the previously pro-Maguirre director, Sam Raimi, have to say about the switch?

Raimi:

"Decisions like these are always difficult…Robert is the future of the franchise."

Tobey Maguire could not be reached for comment.

. . . and the news quickly travelled through the grapevine and reached the Kristen Stewart camp. KS alleged threatened Robert Pattinson that if he accepts the role, she will not break up with Michael Angarano as promised.
Meanwhile Summit gathered all their executive to prepare lawsuits against Sony pictures for undermining their contract with Robert Pattinson.
Robert Pattinson himself is not available for comments. It turned out he is secretly meeting with Warner Bros. . . . .

but, hey, like the Bond fans, they opposed Daniel Craig, bowed vengefully to boycott the Daniel Craig Bond movie; then it turned out that because he was such a great actor, he made all other James Bond movies looked like a wuzzz.
So, protest if you like, Pattinson can carry brand new horde of fans . . . all over the world.

But of course it's not going to happen. Tobey Maguire is solid (but who would have guessed when he was first cast -- short, bulgy eyed-kid?? he turned out Okay!!)

f'kg Pattinson pics in my girlfriend's room.

He's more like a spy flick type actor (The Saint, James Bond, etc), NOT action hero type actor. Can't see him as a geek turned into a superhero.

Tobey is 35, though. Can't picture any younger actors taking his place though. Just have to adjust story line.

You KNOW I really dont care for Toby Maguire either as Spidey...I mean in the comics at least for the last 20 or so odd years Peter Parker hasnt came across as a nerdy looking goofball like Maguire. The guy is married to a super-model he must look atleast OK.

I like Maguire for one main reason. You can belive him. You can believe that he is the only person in the world that all of those bad things can happen to. He pulls off the old Parker luck better than I think anyone else would. Spidey 3 was subpar at best, but admitt it the other 2 were awesome.

Well thats my opinion at least. I for one hope to see much more of Tobey Maguire in the films to come.
