TASM 2: 'J. Jonah Jameson' Speaks In Latest Daily Bugle Viral

The infamous publisher of the Daily Bugle may not appear in Marc Webb's Amazing Spider-Man sequel (unless he's been secretly cast that is) but he makes himself heard loud and clear in the following viral rant against Spidey. Read on for more.

I guess nobody was brave enough to follow J.K. Simmons then? No, we haven't seen Jameson make his physical presence known in Marc Webb's new Spidey flicks yet, but that hasn't stopped the notoriously grouchy newspaper man from going on one of his trademark rants about the wall crawler in the latest Daily Bugle viral. Oh, and Shocker (aka Herman Schultz) gets another mention too.

"Recently, Spider-Man got involved in the apprehension of a carjacker. The web he spun blocking the thief’s path on East 61st Street forced the driver to divert to First Avenue. While driving in the wrong direction, the carjacker hit four cars, one of which crashed through the front of a coffee shop…one of those places that serves that stupid latte art Melissa Hutchins loves so much. Fortunately, no one was hurt, but police estimate over four hundred thousand in damages were incurred.

Of course, civilians applauded as the wall-crawling vigilante pulled the thief out of his damaged car. Did any of them notice the damage left in Spider-Man’s wake?

Last December, Spider-Man pursued a bank robber named Herman Schultz who was using homemade weapons that emitted vibrational shock waves. Over two hundred photos of Schultz, hanging upside down from a twisted street light in a cocoon of webbing, were posted online. Including several with police officers (all of whom were reprimanded).

Did anyone consider that during Spider-Man’s prolonged pursuit and apprehension of Schultz, a city bus, a police car, two streetlights, a fire hydrant and twenty feet of sidewalk were destroyed? Estimated damage: $2.8 million dollars.
And who’s paying for Spider-Man’s actions? I am. You are. And every other taxpayer in this city. It’s clear Spider-Man’s results do not justify the reckless methods he employs. When is he going to finally realize this and just stop?"

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 stars Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker, Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy, Jamie Foxx as Max Dillon/Electro, Sally Field as Aunt May, Chris Cooper as Norman Osborn, and Dane DeHann as Harry Osborn. The movie hits theaters May 2nd, 2014.

This Jameson seems more rational and reasonable than all the other versions that I remember.

Which had absolutely nothing to do with this editorial. JJJ just really loves tangents.

How is it that J. Jonah Jameson, one of the most iconic characters in the Spider-Man universe, still hasn't made an appearance in this rebooted franchise? We're 2 movies in and Parker's still not working for the Bugle? I understand they are trying ever so hard to be different from Raimi's trilogy, but come on! That's like a Superman movie with no Perry White.

I would be fine with either John C McGinley or Laurie

Jim Carrey would nail the role. So long as the animated goofy stuff he does wasnt included, and it was more like Col Stars and Stripes from KA2.

Robert John Burke from Robocop 3 for JJJ

As amazing as Simmons was, his take might be a little too cartoony for this version. If he were cast he'd have to change his approach a little. Instead of that, it might be better to give another actor the opportunity to make the role his own.

J.K. Simmons was great, but, his time has come and gone. He's not the only person that can play the role. AND, how likely is it that a new director trying to distinguish his franchise from the last one is going to use a key actor from the last franchise??? Webb doesn't need that...

I say R.Lee Ermey for the win...

If they're gonna have him in the movies, then they'll cast J.K. Simmons. Who cares if it's a reboot?! They left Judi Dench as M in Casino Royale! He's the only man who can play JJJ.

Dolph Lundgren should be J. Jonah Jameson. I want to see more of him in every movie.

@Bread

When keeping it exaggerated goes wrong...

Sooooo, if JKS should happen to kick the bucket [knock on wood], JJJ should never be cast in a live action SM movie from that point moving forward?? Just because that's the only actor that you and a few other obsessed fans will accept does NOT literally mean that he's the only actor that can play the role.
