David Ayer recently revealed that his original vision for Suicide Squad was significantly different to the theatrical version Warner Bros. would ultimately release, maintaining that he made "an amazing movie" that "just scared the shit out of the executives."
While the chances of the filmmaker being given the opportunity to revisit the movie appear to be very slim, he continues to tease the possibility by sharing previously unseen concept art.
Now, Ayer has Tweeted out an alternate design for Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), along with a very different take on Incubus.
The brother of Enchantress (Cara Delevingne), Incubus (Alain Chanoine) was a CG monstrosity introduced as a secondary antagonist that ended up being one of the more maligned aspects of the movie. We don't don't know what Ayer's original plans for the character were in terms of the plot, but this is certainly a more striking, intimidating look for the villain.
Rumors persist that there are plans in place to #ReleaseTheAyerCut at some point, but Warner Bros. boss Ann Sarnoff made it very clear that she has no intention of giving Suicide Squad the Zack Snyder's Justice League treatment, so unless she's had a change of heart over the past few months, we don't see it happening.
