Is This The Image Of CHRISTOPHER REEVE In MAN OF STEEL?

Earlier today I wrote an editorial exploring that I thought I had caught a brief glimpse of Christopher Reeves in Zack Snyder's incredible Man of Steel. A few hours later a few low resolution images surfaced. Hit the jump to make up your own mind...

Earlier today I submitted the following article to the site:

Back in January there was talk of a CGI Reeves appearing in Man of Steel. Back then it was suggested that the image below dropped hints that we would see Christopher Reeves as the bumbling Clark Kent from the original movies.

So as I was sitting in the cinema massively enjoying the epic Man of Steel I was keeping an eye out for Reeves.

It doesn't come as expected above; it actually comes in the moment when Henry Cavill's Superman was being beaten down by the World Engine in the Indian Ocean. As the immense power beats Superman's face I was sure that for a brief moment a CGI Christopher Reeve appears superimposed on Cavill's face. I did a double take but it was gone. I had to go back and check it out.

I am happy to report that on second viewing of the film I saw it again, and I am convinced it was a deliberate Easter Egg by the film makers.

Well now I have found these admittedly low resolution images online. What do you think?

This is the one that does it for me:

Now, I think this comes down to personal interpretation as Cavill does bear a passing resemblance to Reeve from certain angles - but I wasn't the only one to sit up at the cinema and claim to have seen Christopher Reeve.

Looks all Cavill to me...oh well.

They did say "Think outside the box" for that classic series cameo.
This must've been it. Someone should ask the guy that runs the Christopher Reeve website if this was the easter egg that he had them put in.

What marvel72 said.

It's 100% Cavill.

I think Cavill and Reeve look a lot alike. The only difference is Cavill's huge and Reeve wasn't known for being so large but facially they do look similar.

I would find it really insulting if they CGI'd Christopher Reeve's face on Cavill. Even slightly. This is supposed to be a REBOOT after all.

As for the pics you posted it just looks like Cavill to me. I don't see the face of Reeve. (Thank god)

Cavill does look quite a bit like Reeve, and I don't think they would do this type of cameo, considering the amount of effort made to distant this film from the Reeve era.

Cavill looks more like Reeve than Routh did...which is ironic.
LEVITIKUZ

Yes insulting to pay tribute.

Who cares if its a reboot? It's Reeve. He's an exception.

Now put Michael Keaton in the Batman Reboot.

The whole point of this film was to DISTANCE it from the Reeve films. Reeve fans already had Superman Returns. That's enough of a tribute. The point of this is to be different. If they wanna pay tribute, do something small. But SUPERIMPOSING HIS ACTUAL FACE ON CAVILL?

That's too much

The thing with Snyder he likes to pay tribute and be faithful to the comics in his movies. This was one of them.

If they wanna put a Reeve reference, maybe have Cavill as Clark walk through the street and get hit by a cab but only the cab gets damaged while Clark keeps walking. That would be a nice, subtle reference to Reeve's Clark from Superman: The Movie. That's better than superimposing Reeve's actual face on Cavill.

Fans waited almost 7 years after Superman Returns to finally get a Superman film WITH NO REEVE involvement. So if I find it insulting to put Reeve's face on Cavill, then I have good reason to.

Yeah I get that Snyder likes that stuff. Hence why I said...I hope the reference is something subtle. Putting Reeve's face in place of Cavill's though? idk...

As for this picture though, it just looks like Cavill to me. I'm going to see the movie a 2nd time though, so I'll pay extra close attention to this in the theater.

Am I the only one who thinks it would be cool to do an Earth 2 kind of story for the Justice League movie? Bring back Routh and maybe Keaton as the alternate world Supes and Bats?

Anybody? No?

It's the jaw and the side of his head that, to me, makes me think people are over-thinking this. Maybe they got Cavill from an angle to make him look like Reeve but I don't think they chopped him head onto Cavill's Superman.

When/if it's confirmed that it is Reeve, I'll believe it.

I thought the Donner film reference was the way Kal-El's ship looked spiky when Jor-El told showed him the history of Krypton.

@ batz11
Glad I'm not the only one. And I'd say this is the PERFECT place for a cameo like this. A complete CGI Reeve would look too out of place. Even most people didnt see the first LexCorp bus that dropped Clark off at the farm or the Wayne Enterprises logo on the satellite.

Why not place it right in the center of the screen where no one will suspect it and just briefly show it? I'd say that's a well done easter egg compared to the other ones that are blatantly obvious somewhere in the background.

I actually seen the movie three times and each time I get to that part Im like wow, Cavill looks like Christopher Reeve in that scene!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I though I was the only one who notice the likeness,.. now to see this on here is like spooky that other ppl though the same thing too!!! I had chicken skin (goose bumps) and everything when this part comes on!

I dont think it is reeve, but at the same time i do see the resemblance here. If you guys can search some of the dvd cover from Superman Reeve Collection where he's head is looking up, it has soke nice resemblance. But i dont think they superimposed Cavill's face.
