RUMOR: Is Snyder's BATMAN A Cadillac Man?

If you weren't hot on the idea of a tank Batmobile or have long been yearning for a new look for Batman's ride, it seems you may be in luck. Read on for possible details about Batman's new wheels.

Take this with a grain of salt, but this one comes to us from the reputable Batman of Film, which is why I'm willing to say there could be something to this. They've gotten these possible details about the new Batmobile via a man called Dr. Detroit:

"The Batmobile is currently being designed and built by General Motors at the GM Advanced Design Studio in North Hollywood. This is the same team who most recently designed and built the vehicles for TRANSFORMERS 4 with Michael Bay – who was very hands-on and involved in the design/building process for the new Bumblebee Camaro. Anyway, back to the new Batmobile…
It will definitely NOT have a military look like The Tumbler from [Chris] Nolan’s ‘Dark Knight Trilogy.’

"As of about four weeks ago, it was still “pictures on the wall” – meaning nothing had actually been built yet.

"An “old Cadillac” will feature prominently in the film. When I remarked to my source that the Cadillac Sixteen concept car from a few years back looked a lot like a Batmobile, he stayed mum.

"Now this is pure speculation on my part, but I wonder if this “old Cadillac” be the new Batmobile? Perhaps one is being retrofitted to be Batman’s ride in BATMAN VS. SUPERMAN? There are some interesting "old Cadillac" concept cars, including cars from the '40's, '50's, and '70s (I've attached pictures of some) that somewhat resemble various previous iterations of the Batmobile from comic books, television, and film. In recent years, there have also been several Cadillac concept cars (like the Aera and Thorium Fuel concepts) that fit the bill of a high-tech, supercar-style Batmobile (with some Bat-themed modifications, of course). After all, basing a Batmobile on an old concept car has precedent as the '1966 Batmobile' from the 60s BATMAN TV series was based on the 1955 Lincoln Futura."

So CBM readers, maybe we could get a car that looks like this.

Or even this? (I doubt they'll go this extreme.)

When Batman vs. Superman finally begins principal photography, I'll do my best to be an extra in the film. Though if I do get a job having to do with the production, I won't leak anything. I plan on adhering to any NDA I would have to sign.

Oh boy... The Tumbler was one of the best things Nolan created. And it is more logical and practical than a cadillac.

I'm all for the sleekness of a Burton Batmobile, but there should be some degree of practicality like The Tumbler. Otherwise, How the hell would Batman go through speed bumps?

The batmobile should at least pass for a normal car at night. That's probably the most ridiculous idea Christopher Nolan had, making the Tumbler alongside barely having any gadgets or Bruce fighting like he's Forty. Batman would never ride arond a thing of that size that the police could easly follow. In Batman Begins he shouldn't even have a car, he should ride a motorcycle.

I hope he doesn't have the batplane. I never understood why he needed a supersonic jet to fight street crime.

The Tumbler was awesome. [frick] all the haters with their stupid "Ooooh, stick to the source material" crap. The Tumbler worked beautifully for Nolan's universe.

That being said, this isn't Nolan's universe. Here we don't need a "practical" batmobile. So, yeah...

Tumbler for the win. Bad ass. But I'll always looks forward to seeing different batmobiles on film (since most comic version are poo and only last an issue or two).

Honestly I've gotten over the Batfleck thing!! The only thing I want this batman to have is MORE gadgets!!! And be more of a Detective!! I hate how iron man is doing a better job at that when BATMAN is suppose to Be the world's greatest detective!!!! And I also want to see an actual BATMOBILE!!! that is all lol

Sounds like more confirmation that we are returning to the campy Batman films of the early 90's. No wonder WB/DC thinks Affleck is perfect for the role...

This should prove to be interesting. I wasn't sold on the Tumbler, but it did eventually grow on me, so I'm excited to see what else they throw at us for this new version of Batman. The concept car that TheJokerMask posted below the Cadillac Sixteen looks pretty good.

I know its more realistic so it fits the Dark Knight trilogy....
But if we are getting back to DC superhero stuff I would love a Batmobile that doesnt look like crap.
Im all for leaving the Tumbler behind.

Cadillac can pull it of, and I hate American cars. But it gives it the feel of someone putting something together himself if it's done this way. Which will be a nice feel. as opposed to the whole "You're not gonna tell me you didn't recognize your baby out there, pancaking cop cars on the evening news." aspect of TDK Trilogy.

Also about the voice... They should just let Kevin Conroy do voice-overs.

Didn't know the tumbler got so much love. It was okay for Nolanverse, but let's get back to the guy with the coolest car in comic history.

@Forthas: Campy, really? Batman Returns was the most depressing-tone film I have ever seen, and far too dark for even the standards of modern Batman. Batman is SUPPOSED to have an element of fun to counteract the darkness.
