Will Superman appear in Green Lantern?

Cavill's casting the vanguard for DC's shared universe?

Hi all, this is my first article, so please bear with me- I promise to make it quick.
I was encouraged by fellow CBM-er JorEl77 to expand upon a comment I made in another news piece, one regarding Cavill's sudden casting as the Man of Steel. I speculated that this casting came early to sneak in a Superman cameo to Green Lantern.
If one considers the timeframe of the recent Spider-Man casting, or the Captain America fiasco, the choice of Cavill is indeed coming quite early. Superman is not rumored to shoot until this summer, over the period in which Green Lantern is being released. Green Lantern is most likely still going through post production at this stage, with plenty of time to sneak in an Iron Man-style cameo post-credits or during the film (Personally, I've always pictured the cameo to involve Clark Kent among a crowd looking up in the sky at Green Lantern. Clark merely smiles and shakes his head...).
The thought of a cinematic DC Universe is an exciting one. We came close with Kevin Smith's Superman Lives script, featuring a brief Batman cameo, not the mention the numerous Batman vs Superman attempts. Nolan, however, has remained steadfast in his insistence on Batman existing in his own universe. This makes sense for such a grounded portrayal of the character. Superman and Green Lantern, on the other hand, are fantastic, superpowered beings which could easily reside within the same world.
A Supes cameo was incorporated early on into the Green Lantern script, but its current status is unknown. I believe it was Geoff Johns who joked recently that Tom Welling was welcome to visit the Green Lantern set and do a cameo.
If this does come to fruition, I hope it is done in a subtle manner- like what I previously described, more of a Clark Kent cameo, the brief appearance of Nick Fury in Iron Man. The overbearing "Avengers assemble" storyline truly crippled Iron Man 2, and showed the flaws of a shared universe. Hopefully DC, who are sometimes overly-careful with their characters, will learn from Marvel's mistakes and set up a carefully planned, fully thought-out universe that can retain its integrity.

@Gatson agreed theres no need for WB to follow suit with marvel. yeah IM2 might have had major flaws at times but it was still enjoyable. And didn't the scene get ommited from the final draft.

@earzmundo you would need a much younger actor for earth one which was a pretty good take on supes but I think they should incorporate superman birthright in to especially the beginning where he's involved in a conflict in africa,

It's probably too late at this point to put Cavil in. He still has to get in the shape they want him to be in for the role, and they have to figure out exactly how they want the hair, glasses, clothes, etc. to look. Since GL is pretty much done, they're not going to try to put Clark in just for the heck of it. I don't see why they couldn't reference Metropolis though.

they could do a stinger where GL mention Metropolis has a new hero flying around, and that "The Batman" is on the run in Gotham, then somthing about he has to worry about the threats that could effect 2814 let alone planet earth which is more important..unno just shooting somthing out

I'm not sure what the point of this article is. Its already been stated numerous times by Nolan that his Superman film would take place in its own universe with no other heroes.

Also, there already was a Superman/Clark Kent cameo in the Green Lantern movie, but it was taken out.

this is just wishful thinking...

Good thoughts IronicMan. The only thing I'm not sure about is the reference to the crippling of IM2. Maybe it's just me, but I didn't think the Avengers angle took anything away from IM2. I guess whaat one fanboy loves and another hates, yet another fanboy is indifferent.

They will eventually get with the program they have to , even an idiot can see that the comics all take place in the same universe so why woudn't the movies . Besides They will see that it makes more buzz about your movie and it will make more money too . I also don't think IM2 was crippled but there may have been a touch too much , I guess you just have to find a nice balance even Marvel is still trying to figure this out , its not like this has ever been done before .

Thanks for the comments, guys. To be fair, I haven't see IM2 since I saw it in theaters, where I quite enjoyed it. Upon reflection I started to realize the Avengers storyline seemed rather forced and distracting, but maybe "Crippled" was too strong a phrase.

I kind dont want the shared universe. Look at Iron Man. The first film he is a solo guy and the film was great. In the sequel they focused to much on The Avengers and the film was a fail.

@Scarecrow14

5 minutes of Avengers stuff does nothing to affect a film's overall quality. Maybe Iron Man 2 was just a good film after all?

iRONMAN2 WAS AWESOME!

And I think there could easily be a clark kent cameo, he wouldnt need to buff up for that, and make up and hair takes <2hs tops

I want only Green Lantern in a GL movie. I don't want to waste time with Superman in it. I also don't want GL in a Superman movie. I want the movie to be about Superman and not have these distractions. And please god no super powers in any batman movie.
