The Superman Homepage received word that Brian Doherty, who was just this month promoted to Senior VP, national sales, of The CW has revealed that the execs at The CW are excited about a 10th season for "Smallville", wanting to really "go out with a bang".

The word is that they're attempting to close a deal with Michael Rosenbaum to return as Lex Luthor, wanting to sign him up for at least 9 or 10 episodes.




Apparently an announcement will be made one way or the other very soon.

Yes, Rosenbaum's Lex is the best portrayal of Lex outside of the comics.There's only one problem I have.It has nothing to do with the actor, it's on the writer's part.In the comics, Lex isn't a physical match for Superman, but his genius intellect makes him a nearly unstoppable foe.Smallville's Lex doesn't seem to be especially intelligent.Yes, he is smart, in the sense that he had the type of education a man of his wealth would have.He's well read.But he isn't smart enough to singlehandedly create a weapon to harm Superman.Chloe is smarter than him.I kinda think he and Oliver may have the same level of intelligence/education.Lex seems to always have to hire a scientist to carry out his plots.

I'm not sure why the writers decided to leave out this key component to the character.It probably makes him a better character for the series.I kinda think the character probably would have developed differently had he been a super genius.

I love the way the character turnsed out, I just can't see Lex himself as a major threat to Clark.Sure, he is evil, but he needs his genius intellect to back up his evil.Comic book Lex is dangerous because you could strip him of all his money and leave him in a shed in the middle of nowhere, and he could still rig up something to destroy Metropolis.But if our Lex lost all of his money and resources, he'd pretty much be harmless.He'd be evil, but he'd still be pretty harmless.

Anyway, hope we get a 10th season and I hope he returns.

I hope he comes back for at least the ending of Smallville, it would only complete the whole Superman universe and Clark's destiny wil finally come.

ROSENBAUM is LEX LUTHOR I wouldnt be mad if they casted him for the next SUPERMAN movie. I do agree with kenny38606 on his take of LEX,but for this version of Superman he doesnt need to be much of a genius Clark is a WUSS anyway. Lex has more to worry about from Green Arrow,Chloe,or Lana than Clark. Yea bring LEX back with him and Hartley along with the guest appearances Smallville will continue to SOAR!!!!

Oh I really hope this is true. No Offense hawkngo, but they have been saying this since he left and he keeps saying he won't come back. If Lex comes back I will be so frikin happy, sorry but I HATE Tess Mercer... Lex made the show for me.

Rosenbaum is a great Lex but what the hell else is this guy doing? I don't remember seeing him anywhere in the past few years.

Either way this is the best possible news about why they haven't got S10 yet.

Lex Luther should come back if season 10 is gonna be the last season, he really portrays Lex Luther, not during season 1-5 but when he acts like Lex he really delivers. Plus Smallville is the best show on tv thus far, its been like 10 years of Smallville. And I really enjoyed all the seasons
