Last season for Smallville? ... Not Necessarily

Last season for Smallville? ... Not Necessarily

Here is a snippet of info from the producer of Smallville taken from Ausiello files. It hints that they do have a series finale planned this year if need be, but there may be a tenth season. Also, it hints at the possible return of Lex Luthor and the course of some other characters as well......but most importantly we may actually find out why clark still is not flying.....

Season 9's theme is "Clark's darkest hour." [...] Chloe, still grieving over Jimmy's death, will immerse herself in all things Watchtowerish. Peterson also hinted at some tension for Chlark when she realizes she's no longer content just being his sidekick. We'll find out why Clark isn't flying in a scene with him and Jor-El (the returning Terence Stamp) in the season premiere. [...] The episode they're currently shooting (either 9.02 or 9.03) focuses on Oliver's downward spiral. Battlestar Galactica's Alessandro Juliani will reprise his role as Dr. Emil Hamilton for several episodes this season. Story-wise, Peterson is not approaching this season as Smallville's last. "I saved the best for last": Peterson recently had dinner with Michael Rosenbaum. Interpret as you like.

another producer kelly saunders added this...Kelly said they do have a series finale planned if the ninth season is their last; however, it could change if they are picked up for a 10th season.

can they squuuueeeezzzzeeeee one more season out of Smallville? is this the right direction for the characters? we shall see..........

the #1 problem with this show is not the writing, the no flying, suit issues, teen bullsh!t , actors, charcter progression(i mean they still have problems..alot)...the main problem is that the CW doesnt give 2 sh!ts about this show and it has a $20 budget to work with...i mean its a special effects based show and shows like "90210" and "Gossip Girl" get all the promo, all the hype and all the money

[quote]His post made my eyes hurt. I had to read it a few times to see if I can make any sense of it.[endquote]

Er, shouldn't that read " I had to read it a couple of times to see if I COULD make any sence of it"...?

Don't bash people for bad grammer, unless you're own grammer is upto par. *giggles*

I actually really like the show. Sure, it's lost it's way a few times over the years. But it's been a really good journey. Watching Clark and the other characters grow throughout the years, has been wonderful to watch. Also, We've been watching the actors themselfs grow too. There is certainly a lot of depth to the show. I've been watching re-runs of Lois and Clark (with Terry Hatcher and Dean Cain) and can honestly say, that although it's a bit of fun, there is no way the same depth of character.
Smallville IS hampered by it's lack of funds for the crucial Fx's But I for one, think they do a pretty decent job with what they have. I just wish we could see his full range of 'super powers' more often. Instead if sticking to the ususal. We've hardly ever seen his 'superbreath' at all, not to mention his vision, and it's full extent etc. A tenth season? Sure. I'll be a long for the ride. And if the rumour (don't bash me for my spelling-I'm a Brit) mill is anything to go by, capping off the entire series with a movie (Metopolis) would be a more than fitting end.
Bravo Smallville, Job well done! ;)

btw, I'm not sure what to think of the suit. I'll keep my judgment until I see the show. Not sure if I'm gonna like it though. And why black? Isn't he now known as the Red-Blue Blur?? Mmm?

Blade4040- Yeah I cant tell if he is being racist or not either. He really needs to proof read the hell out of his comments.

I hope that they really do improve the show this season. I think that they are heading in the right direction but we have been duped time an again with this show.

Anyways: Smallville its good, but sometimes its the writers and the special effects, i think its about time we call it a day on smallville for this season, c'mon guys if he aint flying or donning the suit by close to the end of the series then WTF!!! But the suit looks good, reminds me of a NEO on Steroids! Hope this season is better than 8...

'spose it all comes down to viewing figures at the end of the day. Will the new Friday night slot for you Americans be the death of the ratings? It's a shame they didn't show both SV and SN one after the other over on this side of the pond..that would have been bloody awsome. Both my favorite shows, back to back...dream land. LOL Here Supernatural is on another channel entirely. I for one can't wait until season 9 starts. If the trailor from CC is anything to go by...looked awsome. Anyway, a good thread...thanks :)

superdog - 8/4/2009, 4:56 PM
Thank you. I think Friday will be the death of the show. Since it appeals to m ostly people who will be out and about as opposed to sitting at home. Thank god for TiVo:) thanks for posting

Superdog: Sorry guy Im guilty supermike's comment made me lose my train of thought. The guy seems to be a little challenged... anyway I for one LOVE Smallville and yes at times it pisses me off too. There's plenty of things I wish would change, but hey Im just glad we have some kinda version of my favorite DC HERO. The suit doesnt really bother me, because like I've said in past post its better than the jacket and jeans.

Besides.... this isnt really Superman I mean he's almost thirty in the role he's playing and still can't fly. Doesnt use freeze breath,no telescopic vision, and I could go on and on of the things this Superman either doesnt do or hardly ever does.Someone else mention this thought it was a good point.

superdog - 8/4/2009, 7:11 PM
Anil@ yep, arrow in a bottle. That's definately the way they are going.

Anil@ arrow in a bottle. That's definately what there doing

Blade@ no problem man supermike pisses me off too. Mostly cause of his post but also cause he has half my name and half the name of my favorite superhero as well. I still love the show and will watch until the end regardless of how bad they fck it up. It doesn't make sense but oh well.

Oceandeep@ glad you guys have a recording system over there. I think the old ratings systemmis archaic and shouldn't be used anymore cause so many people TiVo and thy aren't couted in the stats. So there could be the same amount of people watching this year as last but they will be watching Saturday afternoon and won't be counted. Stupid.

@ supermike, you continue to outdo yourself on a consistent basis, thats saying somehing.

@superdog, good article. IT seems like the writers for the show can't string together a good story line. you'll have 1 or 2 episodes that are AWSOME, then they'll through in an episode like the one were Pete comes back and becomes stretchy boy because of Stryde gum. I think the show would be WAY better if the went from 23 episodes to 13. it wouldn't give them the time for the bullshit "filler" episodes that ruin a season, and they'd have more money for each episode. really, HBO should be doing this show.

Naw even if Supermike is retarded, dont feel sorry for making fun of him. He is obviously intelligent enough to form an opinion, or he is intelligent enough to know that he can piss people off by going against the grain. Either way, he is intelligent enough to be a genuine asshole that deserves all the slack you lay upon him ;)

Superdog... cool article, man. I watched the show regularly for the first seven series. After that it seemed like they ran out of steam and were reaching each time. I gave up after they introduced their lame-ass version of Doomsday. Still, the trailor for this season actually looks promising so I might check it out again. I think they just need to move on at this point. Smallville is past its prime, its time for Metropolis!

superdog
superdog - 8/5/2009, 8:02 PM
Thanks guys. I've said this before I think the problem is they did not expect the show to last this long. Since it's still going there having to stretch the timebetween highhschool and adult superman. In order to keep it fresh they have to introduce people (jla) way before the mythos introduces them. I think from a creative standpoint they simply didn't think this far ahead.
Shadowelfz
Shadowelfz - 8/5/2009, 9:30 PM
Yeah, man. I imagine the writers and producers of the show plan on ending every season, then the suits from WB come in and say "you know, Smallville is still one of our more popular shows. You guys think you can do another season?" at which point they say no, then a suitcase full of cash is flashed and they begin writing the next season... ;)
