The most recent episode entitled "Masquerade" began dark and scary and ended with an introduction to the glasses wearing, "Mild Mannered" reporter that we finally recognize as Clark Kent of the Daily Planet.
The story was well played. Lois pointed out to Clark that he is constantly putting himself in the spotlight and he should worry about people discovering the Clark/Blur connection. After attempting a disguise, that had Clark looking like the "Red Arrow", it was realized that it isn't the Blur that needs the disguise but rather Clark Kent. Thus it was decided that he should dawn the glasses and adjust the attitude from tough and grouchy to "mild mannered" and apologetic. Enter the clumsy, and we have the Clark Kent we know and love.
Tom Welling and Erica Durance's performances are so lovely to watch. I can't imagine anyone selling this story, and the characters of Lois and Clark, better than these two actors. Not only these two, but I love the way that the writers have developed Lois to the point where she is giving Clark pointers that will eventually turn him into the "Man of Steel".
I am so impressed with the actors and the people who develop this show. The amazing patience it has taken to develop these characters while the world is screaming, “Where’s the man in blue? “Where’s the man in blue”?
Those who will not watch this show until “The Suit” have missed out on an incredible journey. We have watched Clark learn and grow. He has developed the ability to suppress the earthly urges that get humans into trouble. During the most recent episode, Dessaad entered the scene with the ability to delve into the seven deadly sins that will expose most people and submit them to the dark. When Clark and Dessaad met face to face, Dessaad did not even attempt to tempt Clark, as he was too pure for any kind of evil manipulation.
As subtle as this was, I found this to be a huge part of the step toward the “Man of Steel”
Being a Smallville fan since the beginning, we have watched Clark confused, worried, scared, beaten, and left questioning his purpose on this planet. This most recent scene with Dessaad proved that there is no more hesitation, no more questioning, he is now 100% sure of his destiny and is just a step away from fulfilling his purpose. (Well done)
I thank all those involved with Smallville. It has been ten seasons of fun.
In watching this show for ten seasons, I feel that I have watched great characters/actors develop and grow while enjoying every minute of it. I have laughed with them, cried with them, and felt pride, joy, and misery with them.
I thank you so much for the ten seasons of Smallville. I have hated it at times but loved it the majority of times. I never gave up on it and will miss it when it’s gone.
