THE FLASH: Ben Affleck's Batman Role Could Be Smaller Than Originally Reported

Ben Affleck will don the cape and cowl for what many believe will be the final time in The Flash, but it's now said that the actor's Batman return could be a much smaller part than originally reported.

After making a surprise return as Batman in Zack Snyder's Justice League, Ben Affleck will once again suit up in The Flash. We've always known that the actor's apparent farewell to the Dark Knight would see him take on a minor role in the movie, but it's now looking like it may not be much more than a cameo!

According to GWW's  KC Walsh, Affleck spent only around a week on the set of the DC Comics movie.

We weren't exactly anticipating seeing Batman follow the Scarlet Speedster through the Multiverse, but "Batfleck" fans might want to brace themselves for a single conversation between Bruce Wayne and Barry Allen in the Batcave...and that's it! Rumours persist that by the time all is said and done, Michael Keaton's Caped Crusader will become the DCEU's permanent Batman,

Affleck bidding farewell with this cameo role before the DCEU is reset makes sense, and the actor moving on wouldn't be a surprise given what a tough time he's had playing Batman.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice received negative reviews from critics, though most did praise Affleck's work as the iconic hero. He only had a minor role in Suicide Squad, but that was another critical bomb, while the less said about Joss Whedon's Justice League, the better. Despite all of that, he did return to shoot a few extra scenes for the aforementioned "Snyder Cut."

Hopefully, "Batlfleck" will still make an impact in The Flash, and if it really is his final appearance in the DCEU, we're hoping the movie serves as a fitting farewell to his version of The Batman.

The Flash is set to be released on November 4, 2022.

Good. He doesn’t seem too interested anyways. A nice little send off for him.

WB should now just go all out with Battinson.

@RandyOrtonLF - he was pretty intereated to return for those 2 extra scenes in The Snyder Cut cause of Zack. Plus he only came back for this one if they accepted some of his notes for the script to this.

@LameLuka - yeah but that's 2 scenes. Hardly the commitment of the century. Especially since one of those scenes was literally in his pajamas in a driveway.

@RandyOrtonLF - If he gets freed up from Batman they can bring him back as one of the MCU variant Daredevils in Doctor Strange!

I assumed he was just going to come in, do something cool and probably make the “ultimate sacrifice” and be on screen a total of 10 minutes.
Origame
Origame - 9/23/2021, 2:42 AM
@WruceBayne - I never thought of that. I always thought of it basically being a cameo setting up that this is the dceu, while giving a little reference to the fact this is his last go as the character.

I still think it'd be cool if, after the adventure, Barry goes to see Bruce only to discover battinson, making it clear the changes he made merged the universes.

I actually enjoyed Batfleck. Would've been cool to see a solo film with his Batman with more badass moments like the warehouse scene from Batman vs. Superman.

No real surprises here. We all knew Bafleck was coming to the end. Wonder what the situation with Super-Cavill is ? There hasn't been any mention for the last few wks.

GwenLantern
GwenLantern - 9/23/2021, 2:22 AM
@SimplyAz - Well he's not in The Flash, as far as we know and the next Superman's gonna be black. Also, he's The Witcher, I guess.

I wouldn't expect a formal announcement. It's not like DC to let us know wtf is going on ever.

But he's not Superman anymore, I think is the logical assumption.

True, you're spot on.

Man, DC remind me of the Organisation I work for, I wonder who is more incompetent between the two.

I believe it will be more than a small cameo for 2 good reasons.
1. we have seen Affleck version of Batman going around the streets on a Batbike in leaked videos from the set.
2. It doesn't take a week to film one scene. If it is just a conversation scene, you are talking at most 1 days work.
I believe Affleck will be tha Batman for the beginning of the film, then something happens and The Flash ends up in another universe where Keatons Batman is the Batman.

@gordonh7 - With that Batbike, it takes more than a week by the sounds of it. It's a fecking deathtrap that vehicle.

No offense to Affleck, who had the potential to be the definitive live action Batman if it werent for the 90's edge lord writing, but the sooner we move on from these takes, the better. He had his shot and left, now we have a new Batman.

If we are going to have more than 1 Batman franchise at the same time, make the second one something different than regular Bruce Wayne in modern day Gotham city.

Batman Beyond is hopefully being considered now that Keaton is back (Get Paul Dini to write)

Another option is do Dick Grayson Batman

But not a Batman Beyond set in the modern day, WB!

That's what I think. Michael Keaton's Batman having one last adventure before being forced to retire (heartstroke, broken back, broken leg...), leaving the path open for a Batman Beyond story with the older Bruce as a mentor.

Keaton becoming the DCEU Batman makes zero sense, but whatever...
GwenLantern
GwenLantern - 9/23/2021, 2:33 AM
@SethBullock - So people didn't like how the DCEU had an already established older Batman who has already had 20 years of adventures.

So lets reboot and change him into an EVEN OLDER Batman with over 30 years of history!

They should just make it that there are multiple universes and have Affleck in one and Keaton in one. You could then have a crack at a Batman beyond movie with Keaton as he is the right age. Give Affleck a rest and for that matter the rest of his universe and start fresh with the Pattison universe and build each individual characters first with own movie. You don’t have to do an origin story for each but flesh them out before combining them together. WB has the potential to start fresh with Pattinson. Put the Affleck universe down to testing the waters as to see what does and doesn’t work much in the same way marvel was before having their own studios. Give it to Matthew reeves to control the universe

DCEU is going through a lot of changes. I’m just focused on Reeves’s Batverse right now. Hopefully the Flash will clear the mess up or will it create more of a mess lol
