In addition to being a top-notch filmmaker, Andy Muschietti is an accomplished artist, and The Flash director was given an opportunity to showcase his talents on a variant cover for DC's upcoming prequel comic, The Flash: The Fastest Man Alive #1.
Unfortunately, it looks like DC plans to pull this cover from circulation - though given the recent (seemingly relentless) controversy surrounding star Ezra Miller, it's easy enough to understand the decision!
The cover features a naked depiction of Miller's Barry Allen struggling to get into his Flash costume. In the background, we see what appears to be Ben Affleck's take on Batman facing off with a creature who looks a lot like Girder.
Miller has been hit with a series of accusations over the past few months, with the most recent - and serious - alleging that they acted inappropriately towards an underage girl in the presence of her mother. With the benefit of hindsight, having their character appear on a comic book cover with his ass on show probably wasn't the best idea, so pulling the variant obviously seem like the smartest option.
Warner Bros. has yet to put out an official statement regarding Miller's conduct, but the most recent update from Deadline claimed that the studio does plan on severing ties with the actor after the release of The Flash. Of course, Miller's alleged actions have already tarnished the Scarlet Speedster's solo debut in many fans' eyes, so beleaguered Warner Bros. Discovery's CEO David Zazlav really does seem to be in a no-win situation.
The Flash was recently pushed back from Nov. 4, 2022 to June 23, 2023. which gives Warner Bros. a bit more time to reach a decision. Ultimately, whatever comes of the film will likely result in a financial loss for the studio.
