Last season, many fans enjoyed theroizing about the true identity of the Reverse Flash. Though it might have been rather obvious, many theories were floating around the internet. The trend has not changed this season, it would seem. With the show-runners making Zoom even more mysterious than his predecessor, the race is on to figure out just who Zoom is! Well, here is my take on the various theories and the super solid evidence I have to support my own.
1) Future/Alternate Barry.
A prominent theory that floated around during Season 1 was that Harrison Wells/Reverse Flash was Future Barry. Spoiler alert, he wasn't. It seems, however this is just the the theory that won't stop! In fact, it has once again gained some traction with the fans. However, I think history will once again repeat itself with regards to this theory.
But, ThtOneGuy, how can you be so certain?! Well, I will tell you.
In the comics, if future/alternate Barry serves the role of an antagonist, it is only because he thinks he is being the
hero and that he is better than the original. (Well, there was that one time Thawne made himself look like Barry through some future surgery, but that doesn't count.) While Zoom definetely thinks he is better than the rest, he does not think he is a hero. Even if he didn't flat out say it in the trailer, he seems to have no issue killing innocent people and manipulating them. A line that even future/alternate Barry wouldn't cross.
2) Eddie Thawne
Another popular theory regarding Zoom's identity is that he is Eddie Thawne from either E1 or E2. In fact, this theory seems to be more popular than the Barry one. The theory goes that either after being sucked up by the Worm Hole or exposure to the dark matter on E2, Eddie has gone ahead and turned into a speed demon bent on defeating the Flash and being the fastest man in all of the multiverse. While it might seem more plausible, again I don't think this theory will play out.
But, ThtOneGuy, how can you be so certain?! Well, read on!
Well, much like Future/Alternate Barry, Eddie has always wanted to be the hero. The above GIF PROVES IT! Eddie did what he felt he had to, in order to ensure that his friends and loved ones survived. There is also the fact that Eddie has blue eyes and Zoom clearly has brown eyes. Hmm..that might be important later on. I suppose that Eddie 2 could be Zoom, his eyes could be brown after all. However, this twist does not seem really all that twisty. We would know next to nothing about E2 Eddie and the reactions would simply be, "Oh man, he looks like Eddie from E1, but he is EEEeevvVVViiiiIIIiiilllll."
3) Henry Allen
It has also been suggested that Henry Allen from either E1 or E2 is Zoom. The doctor has gone mad and is bent on killing off the speedsters that killed his wife and ruined his life. OR it is Henry Allen from E2 who is out for speedster blood for reasons yet to be revealed. As was the case with the last two, I don't think that this theory holds
But, ThtOneGuy...! Seriously, my own thing is getting old now.
With regards to this theory, Henry Allen from E1 might have the sickening brown eyes of a villain, BUT he is not, by any means, a killer. He did not kill his wife and he does not want revenge on speedsters for the death of his wife. If he did, he would have encouraged Barry to undo the damage done by the Reverse Flash. No, Henry Allen from E1 is more concerned with his son's well being than a desire for revenge. Now then, E2 Henry would suffer from the same problems that E2 Eddie did.
4) Patty Spivot
This theory....You know what, I don't actually think this is a real theory. Moving on.
5) ThtOneGuy's Theory
Here it is folks, the moment you've all been waiting for! You have sifted your way through the less than likely theories and now have earned your reward! After asking some hard questions about the theme of this season so far, what the characters are up to and using some photo-editing software, I think I have figured out who Zoom really is. The answer may shock you.
What do we know of Zoom? Well, we know that he is a speedster seemingly from an alternate Earth. We know that he has stolen Jay's speed and presumebly the speed from other speedsters on other worlds. We also know that he has eyes.
Are you ready? I think Zoom is...

Well, there you have it. Personally, I think my theory is pretty sound.
