Third Actor Up For The Role Of THE FLASH Revealed

Late last night, it was revealed that the CW had their eye on Matt Barr and James Mackay for the role of Barry Allen/The Flash in Arrow (and later his own spin-off series), but now the third candidate has been revealed. Who is it? Hit the jump to find out!

Thanks to the guys over at Latino-Review, we now know that Grant Gustin is one of the top three actors that the CW are considering for the role of Barry Allen/The Flash in Arrow. It's apparently now down to him and (as we heard earlier today) Parkland's Matt Barr and little-known James Mackay. Gustin is 23 years old and is best known for starring in 90210 and Glee, although Barr is arguably the most suitable choice for the character so far mentioned. He also has the right sort of physique that the network so prominently feature on their promos...what do you guys think?

Yeah, it really doesn't seem like any of these guys should be Barry Allen or could carry a series. I honestly feel that they should have just offered Dylan Bruce the Flash role and given one of these guys the lawyer job.

Regarding age, there's no reason Barry has to have a PhD. You can get a job in forensic science with a master's degree. My wife has an MS in forensic science and works at the NYPD lab. (In fact, they hired her before she had finished her master's. Not for crime scene, of course, though.) I'm just waiting for that lucky bolt of lightning so I can start getting kidnapped by super villains with lame gimmicks...

He's definitely becoming more well know.

This guy played a highschool student in Glee. Is he some Doogie Hauser doctor? He looks super young.

Looks wise, I like it if you want a younger looking Flash to offset Cavill and Affleck. On the other hand, nothing about his appearance on Glee made me think he could even stand in the shadow of Cavill and Affleck, let along act next to them.

These picks should be enough evidence, even to DC fanboys, that DC/WB are not creating a shared film/tv universe. Does anyone seriously believe emo Amell and any of these Flash candidates will make it to the big screen?

Everyone here makes no [frick]ing sense. Which superhero actors are you guys thinking of that aren't supermodels?

RDJ? Chris Evans? Chris Hemsworth? Christian Bale? Henry Cavill? They're all good looking men.

And excuse me if I'm wrong but Barry Allen has always been portrayed AS A GOOD LOOKING MAN.

I don't think there's a choice so far that could Do well in a JL movie. I'm fine with anyone of them in a Flash series but if they're going to combine this show into the movies i don't like the choices

The wonderer, I agree all Characters in comics are handsome. And I'll also agree that all the Actors who have played past heroes have been good looking as well, but there is a huge difference between having model looks and being an attractive actor.

Christian Bale is handsome sure, but he doesn't really look like a model. All the ones show here especially #2 earlier today just looked like a cookie cutter model. Basically forgetable.
