Tech-world....fantasy?

A graphics company does not specialize in "tech world" or "Fantasy" graphics.

Graphics is graphics is graphics.

Now we'll get to see what happens when you take that SFX tech and apply it to something that isn't the rotting corpse of a dead horse story arc... "have you ever seen Ferngully?... Have you ever seen Ferngully... on LSD!?"

@Multi

True it is Cameron's, but he will sell the tech for the right price. That is one of the reasons for developing it in the first place. I just don't know if Thor will have that price.

It’s so cool and trendy to say that Avatar lacked story even though it’s pretty much text book in terms of classical literary story structure, I think I should quit fighting it and just join the Avatar hater bandwagon known as” Hate for Hates sake” =D I wonder if Thor or Iron man 2 will have any unpredictable mind blowing plot twists or character building that won’t remind us of anything that we have seen before… NOT!

Example: We meet good guy>We meet bad guy>we meet love interest>Good guy looses first encounter with Bad guy only to return and save the day and get laid lol now that’s some original stuff right their boy lemme tellya

Any way this sounds like great news. I think Marvel is well on their way to doing something spectacular with these movies.

thatiscrazy@ I find it difficult to understand why people like you can't comprehend that some didn't like Avatar for reasons other than simple hate. Just because it follows a classic literary story structure doesn't mean it is a great story. The challenge for most of us who did not like Avatar was that it was an identical copy of Pocahontas and Dancing With Wolves, just transferred to a future distant planet. You can still have add some originality to a classic literary story structure. The acting was average at best, and I knew exactly what was going to happen in Avatar even prior to watching the movie... and I am not talking just predicting the ending. A good story, at least keeps you guessing a little teency, tiny bit.

@Ranger14

I understand what you’re saying and I agree with it. I mean it’s cool to me if people don’t like it, everybody is not going to like everything. But the biggest reason “lack of originality” is the one that bothers me. True it isn’t the most Original, but I stick by my argument on “nothing is original” there isn’t a movie or story that hasn’t taken bits and pieces of previously created works, I mean it’s pretty much scientifically prove.

Knowing this I understand that when judging a movie I try not to use that as criteria. Now if something does happen to appear as “original” then that’s cool. It was either cleaver in rearranging old concepts or was taken from a very obscure place, which is fine with me. But I’m not going to spend time knocking a solidly presented piece of art that came from someone’s hart (not Hollywood) so much time is spent on focusing on the negative. Okay so it wasn’t original” I mean was that the purpose of the movie? If yes, then it sucked.

Nothing is original but there should be elements of suprise or intrigue in a movie. Every single move in Avatar could be seen from a mile away and thats the problem which people have. Even the trailers didnt give away much storywise for that reason.

The movie is good but storytelling was nowhere near being it's strength, unlike the first Matrix or T2 which were ground breaking visually and provided a good story
McLovin

@thatiscrazy

I think what's crazy is the fact that so many people are using words like "groundbreaking", "revolutionary" and "epic" when describing this movie, when in reality those adjectives are only true if referring to the art work and the CGI used in the movie. Story wise, it was none of those things. Now hearing that they will be involved in Thor is indeed GREAT news, but if the script was being done by the same guys or/directed by Jim Cameron, I'd slice my wrists right about ... NOW!

I'm going to throw in a hell yeah on that. I'm So bored with hearing that that I now have to turn the volume all the way down just to surf the site!

And you know what's ironic? It's so pointless to spam that movie HERE were probably 99% of us already fully intended to see it. Preaching to the choir as it were..

@Mclovin

Well let me ask you this (maybe I can be swayed). If the Matrix didn’t have the "groundbreaking", "revolutionary"CGI that it had and told the classic story of the miracle working “Prophet/Martyr” who gives his life to save humanity, would that film have had the same impact?

question-what did they do in Avatar? Its my understanding WETA Digital did most of the close up/hand animation type stuff.

@multipurposeponi....Avatar was revolutionary in terms of "how to shoot a movie". However Michael Bay used similar technology to film scenes in ROTF and also the director of Aviator was the first to develop the same technology that helped film Avatar. Granted, the 3D camera system was developed by James Cameron-But Cameron only furthered the technology for the intese motion cap/cinematography of a FX scene....the technology is there via other outlets

@thatiscrazy
Well said. Avatar was original in so many ways. Did it share commonalities with other major movies? absolutely. What love story doesnt?

@Ranger 14 the acting was amazing....period

For those who say avatar wasnt original....doesnt really matter when its the largest grossing film of all time
