More Cast Additions For Marvel's Thor

According to the Internet Movie Database(IMDB), a few more folks has been added to the cast. All but one, are listed as being uncredited, meaning they'll probably just be background people. Check It Out.

First up, R. Michael David is listed as "Counselor (as Michael Rebeiro). His film history includes The Ring Two.

His character will most likely be on earth, rather than up in Asgard.

Next, Richard Cetrone, whos film history includes mostly stunts, and background work. It seems he won't be anything different in Thor, being listed uncredited as Captain Jotun. Marvel seems to like working with similar people in these recent films, being that Richard did stunt work Iron Man & the upcoming sequel.

For some possible background info on his character,(via Wikipedia)

A Jötunn (Jotunn or Jotun)is a giant in Norse mythology, a member of a race of nature spirits with superhuman strength, separated into categories such as frost giants, fire giants, sea giants and storm giants. Their otherworldly homeland is Jötunheimr, one of the nine worlds of Norse cosmology, separated from Midgard, the world of humans, by high mountains or dense forests. Other place names are also associated with them, including Niflheimr, Utgarðr and Járnviðr. In some legends and myths they are described as having the same height as humans.

Some of the jötnar are attributed with hideous appearances – claws, fangs, and deformed features, apart from a generally hideous size. Some of them may even have many heads, such as Thrivaldi who had nine of them, or an overall non-humanoid shape; so were Jörmungandr and Fenrir, two of the children of Loki.

____________________________________________________________________________________________

Last, Stephen Oyoung, whos film history is similar, appearing in the recent film, Legion, and has did stunt work for Red Dawn(2010), which stars this film's lead, Chris Hemsworth. Stephen's character is Einherjar Guard.

Here is some possible background info on the "Einherjar" part of his character (via Wikipedia)

In Norse mythology, the einherjar (Old Norse "lone fighters"[1]) are those that have died in battle and are brought to Valhalla by valkyries. In Valhalla, the einherjar eat their fill of the nightly-resurrecting beast Sæhrímnir, and are brought their fill of mead (from the udders of the goat Heiðrún) by valkyries. The einherjar prepare daily for the events of Ragnarök, when they will advance for an immense battle at the field of Vígríðr.

So, I guess he'll be the gaurds of Valhalla, as Heimdall gaurds Asgard

MarvelFreshman: I can just feel from deep within, that this film will be epic. I can truly say that Thor would be the only film I would want to see, if it weren't for the Marvel Cinematic Universe reeling me into Iron Man & Captain America. What do you think?

Thanks. I alway try.

Also for some reason I wanted to find the height of the middle guy, Richard Cetrone. I found out that he is 6'3, which I guess is the least height they are going with the giants, after they put on make-up on, or use CGI, which ever.

I wanted to say this in an older post, but I guess since this is a Thor article, I can say it here.

"I really think this film will beat The Dark Knight in the comic book genre. I remember someone from Marvel saying that this film will truly redefine the comic book genre. I didn't quite understand how could this be, but I think I'm starting to realize it."

Just thought I'd share that with you guys. Continue

I believe they casted Baldur already but just don't want to reveal him yet because he is one of the most important figures in Norse Myth and Marvel. Pretty sure they ain't so stupid to leave good ol Baldur out. That would insult J. Mike Stracisnky if Baldur did not appear.

This will probably be the most epic, grand CBM ever made - I cant wait just to see some set pictures or something! Great find MF! :)

I really wish they'd hurry up and announce something about Balder though - I'm beginning to worry he wont be in Thor! ;(

Teabag - "money is not an indicator of film quality"; you must be European or something tee hee ;P

I just imagine Thor being a modernized Shakespearean play done on a grand GRAND scale, not that that's a "just". With how smart Brannagh is and how he's somehow had the good fortune to get this gig AFTER BB, TDK, Iron Man, and Hulk - him having these films for reference, or even to try and top, gives him a gigantic advantage.

As far as TDK goes, it's my second favorite film to Lawrence of Arabia - top that lol?

Joey Misfit -

Main Entry: myth
Pronunciation: \ˈmith\
Function: noun
Etymology: Greek mythos
Date: 1830

1 a : a usually traditional story of ostensibly historical events that serves to unfold part of the world view of a people or explain a practice, belief, or natural phenomenon b : parable, allegory

2 a : a popular belief or tradition that has grown up around something or someone; especially : one embodying the ideals and institutions of a society or segment of society b : an unfounded or false notion

3 : a person or thing having only an imaginary or unverifiable existence

4 : the whole body of myths

I think the fact that "Thor is a myth" widely known to contemporary popular culture, and that the word "myth is applicable to Thor" explains how he is relatable... on multiple levels. And if anymore explanation is needed, I'd argue that the purpose of the comicbook and the cbm of Thor, is to relate the myth to an even wider audience.

Plus it is just plain cool - a supernatural being who slams his gigantic hammer around making thunder and breaking necks... who doesn't want to be Thor, come the [frick] on guy.

@ Joey: Separation from his hammer. Because of the exact nature of the whammy Odin put on Thor when he banished him to the Earth he always was in the predicament that if he lost contact with Mjolnir for more than a minute he would turn back into Don Blake. But of course there's some doubt about whether or not Blake will even be in the movie. In fact it's pretty unlikely that he will be, really.

So that might rule that out.
Without his hammer he cannot fly, summon storms, teleport, or fire off blasts of raw energy.

But even without it he is still immensely powerful. Physically he is the strongest Asgardian, but with his magic belt on his strength is doubled, and probably far exceeds the 100 ton level. He has extreme super human speed, stamina, reflexes, and a fast recuperation power too.

So even without the hammer he's no slouch.

It all depends on what Branagh's take on him will be. I for one hope they don't depict him as being less powerful than he is in the comics. If they want him to have a weakness, his arrogance would be a good place to start. Or maybe his heart.
