The new Thor: Love and Thunder poster is definitely one of Marvel Studios' better efforts, and it only serves to get us more excited for Taika Waititi's Thor: Ragnarok follow-up. A closer look at the credits listed at the bottom has confirmed rumours that Jaimie Alexander will return as Sif, but Chris Hemsworth getting a second mention has put him in a unique club of MCU actors.

It turns out that the Aussie hunk will be credited as one of Thor: Love and Thunder's executive producers. As of right now, Scarlett Johansson is the first and only other actor to have served in that role as well as starring in her own movie, 2021's Black Widow

On Disney+, Tom Hiddleston was an executive producer on Loki, while Oscar Isaac received the same credit for Moon Knight earlier this year. Whether this will become a regular occurrence moving forward is hard to say, but it suggests these actors are keen to have a greater level of input into how their respective characters are portrayed on screen.

Marvel Studios released a new trailer for Thor: Love and Thunder earlier this week, and you can check out our breakdown of the biggest moments and reveals by clicking here.

Directed by Taika Waititi, the movie stars Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Christian Bale, Tessa Thompson, Russell Crowe, Jaimie Alexander, Chris Pratt, Karen Gillan, and Sean Gunn among others.

Thor: Love and Thunder is set to be released in theaters on July 8, 2022.

I’ll assume that means he has a genuine creative pull. Isaac talked at length it seemed on his getting to make Steven a very hum drum British tv sitcom Everyman, including his brother on set, and making Jake parallel Spanish tough guys he knew.

With Hemsworth, I assume his input will just be more of what Taika’s vision. Depending on what side of the fence you’re on with that, that’s either great or terrible news.

I wonder what his contract was and how many options there are, I've learned so much from the Depp trial lol

That gives me faith that Chris Hemsworth will be sticking around as Thor for a bit.

Makes sense, he's played the character for over a decade, I'm sure he has a sense of ownership over the role at this point as have those other long-serving MCU actors. Oscar Isaac is obviously an outlier in that regard but as we all know he agreed to play Moon Knight under very specific terms after less-than-great experiences with blockbusters in the past.

Dude slays the role as good as RDJ even if one started great and the other mediocre, but the dude is Thor. He kills it.

I just randomly thought of America. No not the Mexican girl. The Mexican guy. That got stepped on and cut in half on Chappie. Why did I… oh yeah. Aussie. South Africa. Way different accents. But not really.

@TheWalkingCuban - The dude never was accurate to Thor even when they still pretended he was a serious character. Like, they can't even give him dialogue that would sound like something Thor would say. "Who the hell are you, guys?" Does that sound like Thor? The fact that he uses the words hell and guys is a proof how clueless MCU writers are. An accurate Thor would respond, "Thor demands thee to reveal who art thou!" And I'm not even talking about Waititi's so-called take. That one's got, like, negative zero to do with Thor...

@TheWalkingCuban - That's not an opinion. That's an objective fact. Hemsworth is inaccurate as all HEL(L) to Thor and never embodied this character fully.

I hope he gets to play Thor for as long as he can. I think it makes sense for Thor to be the one Avenger to really stick around since he's the one with the much longer life span.

Makes sense for him. After The Dark World and Age of Ultron he was growing very tired of the role, and wanted changes that led to Ragnarok, him pairing up with the Guardians, and where we are now. He wants to ensure the role is his own (ultimately to make a more satisfying film). He’s heavily invested and doesn’t want to disappoint.
