Variety have revealed that
Thor opened up on Friday night with $25.7 million from 3,955 locations across the United States. Out of these, 2,737 were in 3D and only 214 in IMAX. The site also report that after the successful midnight screenings on Thursday (which raked in $3.25 million from approximately 1,800 locations) the worldwide total for the movie now stands at more than $130 million.
Apparently, this should see
Thor placed behind
Spider-Man and
Iron Man in terms of its opening weekend, which is expected to surpass anywhere between or above $60 - $65 Million by Monday. Overall, it's looking as if this will be another big success for Marvel Studios and with weeks to go before we know exactly how much it'll make in total, the chances of a sequel to
Thor are already high.
With an all star cast which includes Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Anthony Hopkins as Odin, Natalie Portman as Jane Foster, Jeremy Renner as Clint Barton and Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury,
Thor is OUT NOW.
