Jensen Ackles played Soldier Boy in season 3 of The Boys, while Jeffrey Dean Morgan has taken on the role of Joe Kessler in the show's current fourth season.
Both actors were cast by Eric Kripke while he was Supernatural's showrunner, leaving Jared Padalecki the only one of the show's original leads who has yet to appear in The Boys. With only one season left before the series ends, the clock is now ticking on finding a role for the Walker star!
Talking to Deadline, Padalecki was asked whether he's keen to join the Prime Video series to which he responded, "The answer is yes."
"We have talked [about a role]. As a matter of fact, we talked today," the actor confirmed. "I think at this point in my acting life, I only want to work on projects that I really care about or with people that I really care about, and obviously Eric and I are indelibly connected forever."
Making a season 5 role even more likely for the Sam Winchester actor is the fact Walker was abruptly cancelled by The CW in May, freeing him up to take on any role he chooses in the months ahead
"I mean, he created Supernatural. He created Sam Winchester. He created Ruby [Genevieve Padalecki], who I ended up marrying and starting a family with," Padalecki continued. "I adore him. I adore his humor. I adore him as a person, his storytelling."
"So I can’t wait. I don’t think it films until next year, but I will be ready when he makes the phone call. I’ll just say ‘Okay, when am I flying out?'"
Only time will tell who Padalecki ends up playing, though during the press junket for The Boys season 4 earlier this month, Kripke confirmed he's also been mulling the idea over of reuniting with the Supernatural alum (at last count, close to a dozen actors from the show have joined the writer and producer in The Boys-verse).
"We're very, very early in season five, so I don't have a character in mind quite yet," he admitted. "But I'm aiming towards it and I'm just keeping in rough touch with him so that hopefully our schedules do line up."
In The Boys season 4, the world is on the brink. Victoria Neuman is closer than ever to the Oval Office and under the muscly thumb of Homelander, who is consolidating his power.
Butcher, with only months to live, has lost Becca's son and his job as The Boys' leader. The rest of the team are fed up with his lies. With the stakes higher than ever, they have to find a way to work together and save the world before it's too late.
The series stars Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Antony Starr, Erin Moriarty, Jessie T. Usher, Laz Alonso, Chace Crawford, Tomer Capone, Karen Fukuhara, Colby Minifie, Claudia Doumit, and Cameron Crovetti. Season Four will welcome Susan Heyward, Valorie Curry, and Jeffrey Dean Morgan.
The first four episodes of The Boys are now streaming on Prime Video.
