THE BOYS Co-Creator Reveals The One Scene So Sexually Explicit And Gross That Amazon Made Him Cut It

The Boys doesn't shy away from violence, drugs, or sex, but there was one scene that was so gratuitously over the top and gross that Amazon had them cut it. Co-creator Eric Kripke reveals what that was.

With The Boys having released on Amazon Prime last week, series co-creator Erik Kripke hosted an AMA on Reddit in which he revealed plenty of juicy details about the show's production. Among the stories he shared was one of a scene that Amazon told them they had to cut.

The Boys doesn't typically hold back from gratuitious violence or sex, but apparently this scene was just so over the top and gross that Amazon said "F**k no" to it. While fans will never see the scene - which was shot - Kripke painted a very vivid picture of what went down. And it is, indeed, very gross.

There was ONE SCENE that Amazon said F**K NO, you have to cut. I couldn't quite understand why considering everything else we have in the show, but: Homelander, after being dressed down by Stilwell in episode 2, was standing on one of the Chrysler building Eagles. He pulled his pants down and started jerking off, mumbling "I can do whatever I want" over and over again until he climaxed all over New York City. We shot it! Oh my God, Anthony was the BEST in that scene. Amazon seemed to think it wasn't necessary. I thought it told me something about his psyche. To be clear, they've been great, that may have been the ONLY fight I lost in Season 1.

The Boys definitely pushes superhero boundaries, and this apparently isn't the only scene that was cut from the dark comedy. Kripke revealed another one to EW, though it was due to budget constraints - not Amazon.

It was revealed that Kripke wanted  a scene with "an ice man having sex with a woman doggy-style when she's wearing a fur coat" in the superhero sex club. It was rejected, however, "because it was logistically too difficult to mount no our budget." Admittedly, that wouldn't have even been the most shocking thing scene in that sequence.

In a world where superheroes embrace the darker side of their massive celebrity and fame, The Boys centers on a group of vigilantes known informally as "the boys," who set out to take down corrupt superheroes with no more than blue collar grit and a willingness to fight dirty.

The Boys is currently streaming on Amazon Prime.  It has already been renewed for a second season.

Bahaha that sounds absurd. But I really enjoyed this show. Having not read any of the source material, it was quite surprisingly good.

I'd highly recommend it. This ain't on of your CW shows, though, so don't be expecting something like that.

Thought it might have been the dildo bomb, but they basically covered that with Translucent.

I read up on what happens in the comics a bit today. Gotta say I probably prefer what they do in the show.

It's a little too on the nose to be honest. We figured out that he could do whatever he wants by his actions and fear tactics. Didn't need him saying it

@Vigor - That's not the aspect of him it would be showing though. It would illustrate not "that he can do whatever he wants", but his complete narcissism. That he's sexually aroused by himself and by his ability to do whatever he wants, speaks to how up his own ass he is, and how he can't see past his own nose. They really, really downplayed his narcissism in this in comparison to the comic.

@OptionFour - ah interesting. Not familiar with the comic. Thanks for the insight

Homelander is probably my favorite villain of the year thus far. He's so evil and intimidating its pretty great.

Something I love about the show is how I actually felt bad for the supes at times because they were treated like products by Vought. Like, A-Train is a dickhead junky, but he's also just trying to stay relevant because he knows what happens when heros arent part of the 7. The Deep may be a sexual assaulting POS, but he was just brought in by Homelander trying to make himself seen as equal to the team, not a joke like people think.
Even Homelander is just looking for a maternal figure throughout the show due to his childhood of being kept at a distance, thus when he finds out he has a son he doesn't want him to feel alone either.

Yeah, same.
I had to check myself when Deep was in the hotel.
He was really on the receiving end of some crap.
And THAT girl, lol.
Then I said. Wait a minute, I hate this dude.
Finger away lady.

I'm surprized they didn't do the scene yet where Hughie answers the door after having a snack and doesn't realize that his face is covered in blood

Never read any of the source material but absolutely loved this show. As a matter of fact I don’t think I even want to check out any of the source material (Yet) because I want to continue to be surprised where the series takes me.

"We shot it! Oh my God, Anthony was the BEST in that scene."

Yeah, I'm sure he shot it alright. And of course he was the BEST in that scene, he's been practicing since he was twelve years old.

F@cking amazing show! Those c@nts blew my mind.

Once I started it I couldn’t stop it. I’ll be rewatching it again this weekend.
Anyone else think of Dwight from The Office when they looked at Hughie? 🤷‍♂️🤣

Yeeeaaaah, I'm with Amazon on this but on the other hand in the trailer alone is some pretty perverse stuff. Gonna pass on this show. Tried Doom Patrol for a couple episodes but just ain't feeling the vibe of such DC etc shows too eager to outdo Zack Snyder's lust for the depraved 🤷‍♂️

I was hopeful for this series, but there was too much rape content.

The whole gritty comic book thing just gets old after a while.
