THE WALKING DEAD: Rick Is Out For Vengeance In This New "It Ends Now" Promo For The Second Half Of Season 8

With Alexandria in flames and Carl at death's door, things definitely didn't look so good for Rick and his people by the end of the midseasom finale of The Walking Dead - but when the show returns from its hiatus next month, the survivors will still rally to make their "Last Stand."

AMC has released a brief new promo for the midseason premiere, and it seems to confirm (the shots could be shuffled out of context, so you never know) that Negan and Rick will face-off again, with the latter promising to finally put and end to the psychotic leader of the Saviours.

If you've read the comics then you might think you have a pretty good idea how things will play out, but the show has proven that it's willing to make some major changes to the source material, so everything really is up in the air!

Tell us, are you looking forward ro the return of The Walking Dead? Let us know in the comments.

yeah!! its time to do a major shift change or end the series. I'd like to see zombies evolve or something.

@sKeemAn - The whisperers will be coming next season I'd say. Should be interesting.

Thing is, Rick has no real reason to seek 'vengeance' against the Saviours for Carl's death, since Carl was killed by a random walker and not by the Saviours. One of the cheapest and stupidest deaths in the whole show.

As Chandler Rigs himself said on twitter, its amazing how Carl has survived years of the apocalypse but died from 'tripping and getting bit by one walker.' Just wow.

@TheGoddamnPeel - yeah, they tried to be sneaky about it. it was quite cheap, for someone who has a major role.

@sKeemAn - I wouldn't even be pissed off if Carl was dying because Chandler Riggs wanted to leave the show, but its only because AMC are making savings in cuts and don't want to pay Chandler Riggs more money now that he's an adult, and Scott Gimple is insanely intent on killing off the most important character of the show to try to fix what he perceives as a 'plot-hole' that isn't even a plothole. The whole show has gone down the drain and honestly isn't worth the time of day anymore.

@TheGoddamnPeel - When was Carl killed? Don't remember seeing that happen.

@TheGoddamnPeel - Or it's just set up for next season, Carl being bitten by a Whisperer.

@rabid - The actor's had a haircut, hasn't been seen on set since shooting the midseason finale, and everyone has confirmed that he's dying. This isn't like Dumpstergate where Scott Gimple deliberately wriggled out of confirming Glenn's death by saying 'the Glenn WE KNEW is dead.' This time, everyone is openly confirming that Carl's dying so that's whats going to happen.

@rabid - He's dying from a walker bite. Gimple said the bite would play out like all bites do, Riggs confirmed Carl's story is over, daddy Riggs lost his shit on Facebook over Chandler getting "fired" so, Carl is a goner.

I'd believe Carl getting bit by a walker wearing dentures before I believed a whisperer bit him.

@TheGoddamnPeel - It's called a fake out. They're toying with fans' expectations.

@Kitschy - What did his father say? Because his mother insinuated n twitter that he isn't leaving the show.

@rabid -

His mom made a tweet shortly after the episode ended that said something like Carl was wrote out of the show, too.

@Kitschy - I still bet it's a fake out, taking advantage of social media.
Kitschy

@rabid - what would he gain from that? I don't see his dad losing his noodle on social media just to sike out Rigg's fans. That would be very deceiving and disrespectful to his fans and career. If Carl was going to survive the bite, Chandler wouldn't have said one way or another. He wouldn't have gone to the lengths he did to protect his performance from being spoiled.
Just my thoughts on it.

@Kitschy - His father would be participating in hyping his son's role. His dad is a fixture of the set there. He runs TWD tours of the locations. This show has gone to great lengths in the past to hide the upcoming plots. That's all that's happening here. Because suspense is the only thing bringing back viewers.

And come on; we all know Rick is going to spare Negan. AMC repeatedly insisting that Rick is going to kill him and building all this up for no big pay-off is just going to piss off a lot of fans after Dumpstergate, the Season Seven premiere, Morales' death and now Carl's death. Fans have had enough of cheap cliffhangers and pointless build-up of plots that don't go anywhere.

@TheGoddamnPeel - Of course he's going to spare Negan. I think that spare moment was the flash-forward with red-eyed intense Rick from the season premiere, which by the way is called.. "Mercy", you know...
Peel
Peel - 2/2/2018, 9:37 AM
@kylo0607 - Sure, I know he's going to spare Negan because I've read the comics, but the way the show has built up to this moment is incredibly stupid.

Repeatedly having Rick say for almost two seasons that he's going to kill the current main antagonist of the show, only to spare him in the end, is a quick and sure way to piss off viewers and confuse people.

Its also a bit unconvincing that Rick is going to spare Negan after the death of his son, considering he went on a crazed rampage when Lori died, killing dozens of walkers in his way, hallucinated talking to people and wanted to kill as many of the Governor's people as possible and not give them a chance to co-exist with him. Now that his son - his only child - has died, he's suddenly going to be BFFs with Negan and live in peace? Nope that's not convincing.

Add to that that Carl wanted and tried to kill Negan last season, and he's now suddenly a pacifist is just shit writing.

There were so many ways Scott Gimple and TWD team could've handled Rick's decision to spare Negan - they could've martyred someone like Morgan or Gabriel who's deaths would've convinced Rick to honour them and spare Negan, they could've had Negan redeem himself by saving Carl or another significant person in Rick's life that would've allowed Rick to see the good in him, they could've had Carl go down a further dark road again and Rick choosing to spare Negan to bring back civilisation and set a good example for his son (Like they originally did in the comics)...But nope, they're killing off Carl because they're strapped for cash and out of ideas. Total shitshow.

@TheGoddamnPeel - You are making conclusions on why Rick spares Negan without actually having seen that moment and the context of it.

I would wait, see it and then comment on Rick's motivations.
Peel
Peel - 2/2/2018, 10:45 AM
@kylo0607 - I'm making conclusions based on what the actors and executive producers of the show have said. Scott Gimple explained that was his reason for killing Carl - so that Rick would honour his 'legacy' by sparing Negan.
DarthMoose
DarthMoose - 2/2/2018, 11:12 AM
@TheGoddamnPeel - negan isn't going anyway that's for sure. Him and rick will become best buds.

@TheGoddamnPeel - your comments are [frick]ing perfect. Their writing has taken a nosedive the last couple seasons.

Lol, Carl is not dying. People keep talking like he's already gone. How quickly they forget this show's history of mid season fake outs.

@rabid - sorry dude, he's most definitely dead. And just stop with the Whisperers crap. I guarantee you 1000% you're wrong.
