Like the rest above said this show is definitely worth and it keeps getting better after each season, what is amazing that it has a great hook from the very beginning this woman is probably the best female actress out there right now. I honestly forget that all of sestra's are played by one person and anyone who watches this show will have their own favorite sestra wether it's Sara, Cosima, Beth, Alison or Helena. BBC is on a league of it's own when it comes to quality of television i think.

Have any of you seen Luther? I highly recommend it!!!

@RetroFit - "I've heard good things but never watched a second of it. Does anyone here recommend it? What does it compare to? I'd like to give it a chance but I'll need to get my wife on board first."

Like others, I strongly recommend it! DirecTV promoted OB a lot & the trailer was intriguing, so I decided to check out the pilot and I've been hooked since.
As for your wife, my cousin & her husband watch it and she's more into it than he is. I know it doesn't mean much, but point being my cousin isn't usually into shows like OB. The mystery/intrigue hooks you early on, but educated viewers won't get lost in the pseudo-science/sci-fi-ish aspects.

And best for last, you'll both LOVE Tatiana Maslany!

Here's the spoiler-free trailer for the pilot that won me over:

And the opening scene if you're interested:

@KingPatel - "@RetroFit - I highly recommend it, it's really good. Good mix of sci-fi, thriller, and mystery. The first season should hook you pretty quick, and your wife will probably dig it too. I can't think of a comparable show off the top of my head, but @imkennypowers can probably help you out on that front."

Honestly, I can't think of a good/fair comparison off the top of my head. I'd really have to think about that one. hahaha. Which is a compliment to how unique/original the concept is.

LOST might be the "best" comparison with their mystery/intrigue and unanswered questions, but OB has shifted directions & grown as the characters/audience learn more. And I guess they both have one character that's more the lead/focus with an ensemble cast, except with OB the lead actor (Maslany) plays the lead, Sarah, AND she's the "ensemble" cast and plays most of the characters. hahaha
