Come Relive The Shocking ORPHAN BLACK Season 3 Finale: "History Yet To Be Written"
The third season of Orphan Black came to a close on Saturday with more than a few twists and turns. BBC America has released a handful of photos from the finale.
Orphan Black season three came to a thrilling close on Saturday night with a Helena/Rudy fight, a Delphine cliffhanger, the results of Alison's election, and the return of an old villain highlighting some of the biggest twists and turns. Read on below for a brief recap with a few quotes from co-creator John Fawcett.
The finale answered more than a few of the season's most pertinent questions, but with those answers came a whole slew of new questions. First off, the Neolutionists are back and they're just as weird and creepy as you remember. How do they play into season 4? Well, according to Fawcett:
I think what was important for us in season 3 is that this was a chapter in the larger puzzle that we’re trying to tell in the bigger mystery. We’re trying to answer a lot of questions in this finale and have a lot of resolution. It was important to us in this finale that there are a lot of answers and there is resolution and there is the feeling of a finale, but we also are at the brink of almost a brand new rabbit hole. It’s interesting to come to the end of our Castor mystery, and how that fits in with Leda and Topside and then to introduce our new foes that we’re expecting to see more of in season 4, which is Neolution, which we set-up in season 1.
Sounds like some big things are the way next year. Now moving on to Delphine... is she really dead? Even though we've seen Helena and Cosima survive impossible odds in past season finales, it would appear as though Delphine won't be as fortunate. Fawcett says her love story with Cosima was always meant to be a tragic one and even though her death was horrible event, it was necessary for Cosima's story and it's something that had to happen as the show moves into seasons 4 and 5. He doesn't elaborate on who shot her, but based on his comments, it looks like the identity of the shooter will be one of next season's bigger mysteries.
A few final notes:
-
Even though Project Castor is more or less finished after Helena tore Rudy a new bicep, Mark will be back next year.
-
Krystal Goderitch, the newest seestra, will also be back next year. Fawcett teases big plans for the character.
-
If Ksenia Solo can make it work in her schedule, Shay will also be back next season.

Before deciding on the clone dinner party, there were a few brief conversations about Sarah having a side-scrolling fight, similiar to the major fight in Oldboy, where clones would come at her from various angles and she just turns and fights them all.
Hopefully they can make that fight work out in one of the future seasons, it sure sounds like something fans would love to see. Rewatch the clone dinner scene below and discuss the events of the finale in the usual spot!

Season: 3 | Episode: 10 | Original Air Date: 20 June, 2015
Castor and Topside force Sarah to make uneasy alliances. But there is some rest for the wicked, when Donnie gives Helena an unexpected ‘gift’, and the results of Alison’s candidacy finally come in. Even as team Leda takes a moment to breathe, change is afoot and a life hangs in the balance.
More vulnerable than ever before, Sarah, Cosima, Alison, and Helena’s bond will be put to the test with the reveal of highly trained, identical male-soldiers played by Ari Millen.
