Warning: SPOILERS AHEAD for 'Nanda Parbat'!

There was a lot going on in last night's episode of Arrow, the biggest revelation being Ra's Al Ghul's offer to Oliver to replace him as head of the League of Assassins! Andrew Kreisberg, Marc Guggenheim, John Barrowman (Malcolm Merlyn) and Katrina Law (Nyssa Al Ghul) sat down with ComicBook.com for a look at the implications of this episode's events, along with what those implications may hold for the rest of the season.

On where the next episode picks up: You want to keep that conversation going, because obviously Oliver, as hopefully the audience is, is taken aback. He is not expecting that to be the case and it was something that Greg and Marc and I talked about, is that it was important to have a different villain this year and somebody who as going to do something completely different.

In Season One, we had the incomparable John Barrowman, who had his mission and obviously last year Slade's mission was one of vengeance. Then this year to have Ra's, who's presented as this gaint malevolent force but to have him come up and basically offer our hero the keys to the kingdom, it just felt like such a different way to go and a different relationship for Oliver to have with the villain.

On Nyssa's reaction: Nyssa is the Heir to the Demon. So you can imagine how she feels when she discovers that what she considers her birthright is being handed over to Oliver...I've been trying to get the writer's room, as a bit, to every time Nyssa's in the episode, that she would say “I am Nyssa, Heir to the Demon...” – and someone [clears throat].... – “...Daughter of the Demon.” And that's the whole episode.

On the future of the season: We already knew what the schedule was going to be, so we already knew this episode had a big break coming. So it's designed to be a sort of crazy cliffhanger. I think that Willa has just risen to such amazing heights these last few episodes and continues in this one, and seeing what she's willing to do and what Oliver's willing to do for her soul. One of the things we talked about very early on was that this season is really the fight for Thea's soul and more than anything, victory this season for Oliver is saving Thea. She's caught between disparate forces.

I can't believe we're fifteen episodes in and we still don't know who will be the villain at the end of the season, because I can't really see Oliver waiting that long to get back to Ras and then fight him. Also, if Flashpoint has any effect on this show, we won't know until next season because the Flash finale is the week after Arrow's.

If they knew they were going to have Ra's make the offer to Oliver, why not have it be after he killed him. We could have learned that Ra's was impressed, and decided to bring him back with the pit (instead of the stupid magic penicilin tea and "strong will to live".

Then Oliver would have come back as Dark Ollie, Ra's could have trained him in secret while Team Arrow was dealing with his loss and Brick back in Starling. Then have Oliver come back as a double agent, on the hunt for Merlyn. And have Team Arrow and The Atom needing to stop the Arrow, eventually bring him back from the brink and they taking the fight to the League and Ra's for a big finale.

@isee,

Fantastic idea, I would have loved to see that.

@batmannightwingrobin And yet you use a Batman character to prove that point. Sorry, I couldn't resist but point that out just to confirm your theory.

So far this episode was sort of disappointing due to Oliver ripping off Batman and Atom ripping off Iron Man, unless Atom is suppose to fly, which I highly doubt.

Bane originated as a Batman character though, and he deals with Batman most of the time. so...yeah.

I didn't see this coming...but only because it's pretty dumb. Still, we'll see where it goes. Season 3 is a pretty epic fail, with no coherent story, a lot of storylines that have dragged on way too long, and some poor writing and plot choices. As people have mentioned already, Arrow draws from many existing characters, mainly from Batman, to create the Arrowverse. Green Arrow is Batman and Oliver Queen is Bruce Wayne, Diggle is Alfred in a way, Thea and Roy are Robins, Felicity is Oracle, Quentin is Detective Gordon, Laurel is Catwoman, and Nyssa is Talia (and I can see them taking this much further in the rest of the season). Merlyn is Ollie's Joker in a lot of ways--his arch-nemesis but he can't bring himself to kill him. Then you have Ray Palmer, who is the Tony Stark/Iron Man inspired Ted Kord/Blue Beetle disguised as Ray Palmer/The Atom. Oh, while we're at it, Flash is a lot like Spider-Man. Don't get me wrong, there's a lot of great things that have come to these series from drawing inspiration from other comic book characters, but there are some pretty glaring parallels.
