We recently learned that a Harley Quinn spinoff show focusing on Kite Man is in the works for HBO Max, and we now have some surprising casting news for the upcoming third season of the adult animated series.
Harley Quinn co-creator Patrick Schumacker revealed that filmmaker James Gunn will provide the voice for a character based on himself in a season 3 episode during an interview with /Film. "He is playing himself, and is directing a movie about [Batman's father] Thomas Wayne."
Gunn, who recently worked with Harley's live-action counterpart (played by Margot Robbie) in The Suicide Squad, is primarily known as a director, but he does also have several acting credits to his name.
He responded to the news with the following Tweet.
Harley Quinn season 3 is expected to debut later this year, but no official release date has been announced. The story will reportedly pick up directly after the events of the S2 finale, with Kite Man devastated after discovering that Poison Ivy had a fling with Harls.
