ANT-MAN Villain Joins LEGENDS OF TOMORROW To Play Rip Hunter's Mentor

In the pages of DC Comics, Rip Hunter's mentor is Booster Gold (who is later revealed to be his father) however, DC's Legends of Tomorrow is reportedly going a different angle as a villain from Peyton Reed's Ant-Man has been cast as Hunter's Time Master Academy mentor.

DC's Legends of Tomorrow has cast Martin Donovan as Rip Hunter's Time Master Academy mentor, Druce.  Donovan played Mithcell Carson in Marvel Studios' Ant-Man.  In DC Comics lore, Rip Hunter's mentor is Booster Gold, who is ultimately revealed to be Hunter's father (time travel means you can meet your father and be older than he is!).  However, it appears that Legends of Tomorrow is going a different route.  Is this retcon an indication that Booster Gold is a character that's off the table for DCTV? Are there plans for the character in the DCEU?

IGN reports, "Druce is a respected member of the time council who was Rip's first mentor at the Time Master Academy. He is a seasoned Time Master who is accustomed with mediating conflicts throughout history. Druce finds himself faced with his greatest challenge when he is tasked to find Rip and convince him to abandon his hunt for Vandal Savage (Casper Crump). If he can't convince his former pupil and the Legends to give up their quest, he may be forced to kill the man he looked upon as a son."

What did you think of last night's season premiere of Legends of Tomorrow? Will you be tuning in next week?

Booster will probably be his dead son, not his father. Michael Jonas Carter, brought back to life by an alteration in time. That's my guess.

SPOILERS

Things I liked about Legends: the whole son reveal thing, the fact that they're nobodies trying to actually be remembered as legends. The overall playfulness of the show.
Things I didn't like: THE DIALOUGE oh my god it's painful, the cgi was really iffy at spots and kinda good at others, Captain Cold Heatwave, Sara lance( just everything about those 3)

END OF SPOILERS

Once he realizes that information is years old and from the comics, he'll calm down. Until then, enjoy his tirade.
