Guillermo Del Toro Says He Would Love To Make HEAVEN SENT; Denies Debunking Rumor

Recently it was reported that Guillermo del Toro was negotiating with Warner Bros. to make a team-up film featuring Swamp Thing, Deadman, and a bunch of lesser known characters from DC Comics. Today, Guillermo replied to a tweet that seemed to imply that he had no interest in the project.

Two days ago Latino-Review posted a story claiming that Guillermo del Toro and Warner Bros. were closing in on a deal that would see the Hellboy director put together his own supernatural Avengers-like team. It would feature a lot of DC Comics' second tier characters: Swamp Thing, Deadman, The Spectre, Constantine Hellblazer, Phantom Stranger, Zatanna, Zatara, Sargon, and Etrigan the Demon.

Sounds almost too good to be true, so it comes as no surprise that several sites immediately thought a tweet from Pietro Filipponi was accurate and re-posted it.

Guillermo was then made aware of these comments on his official fansite, and had a reply.
"Wow- please contact whoever said I denied it. I cannot recall ever answering a question like that. Sadly I dont do tweeter. I denied being involved in JLA but this I would love to do!!!" - Guillermo del Toro

Another bit of news in all of this, is that Pietro followed that tweet by saying that he would be posting a full interview on Monday that he conducted with Guillermo. So, if del Toro can't remember answering a question about Heaven Sent, which could have only come within the past day or two, one has to wonder... I'll guess we'll find out on Monday.

Update: Pietro has clarified that the tweet is referring to an interview he had with Guillermo at New York Comic-Con. The tweet does not refer to Latino-Review's recent scoop.

BOOM!!!
Come on, WB! He's up for it and it'll set a trend instead of following one.
Clive Owen for John Constantine.

Why does it suck, this is great if its true. A great concept developed by a great director, who specializes in the nature of the source.

@ Toco... Agreed. Maybe a "Justice League" type team would suit this better.

Anybody but a deschanel, they're both so damned annoying.

Zatanna is intelligent, charming, and hot.

I gotta go with Clive Owen over McGregor as much as I like him. Maybe even Bond himself, Daniel Craig, gotta strike while its hot.

I would love for Guillermo Del Toro to do a movie like this, it fits perfectly with his style. However, I don't think anyone should ever believe what Pietro Filiponi says, I'm pretty he posted a bunch of false articles on this site last summer and started a bunch of casting rumors to promote Kevin Pennington.

No offense I love Zooey Deschanel but, she reminds me too much of my aunt so I can't she her as sexy. I would prefer a "sexier" actress. Preferably someone with a natural accent. I would nominate an actress similar to Eva Green.
I also always imagined God's Wrath, "The Spectre", to be someone with a deep resonating voice. Preferably he would also be of west African decent like in the comics. I would think an actor along the lines of James Earl Jones would be a good choice. They could have another actor do the body performance. They could use a similar technique to what they did with Darth Vader, or Doctor Manhattan. I would want someone with an astral, or non-earthly voice to voice over The Spectre.

On a side note: David Hayter would be an amazing choice for one of the voices of the characters. Steve Blum would also be a good choice. These two voice actors' voices are very distinct and they would resonate well with the audience.
Mark Hamil would be a good choice for either Etrigan or Swamp-Thing.

I agree with you, we should have some more continuity in the movie verse of comics.

West african decent? Did you make that up? Cuz one he's a spiritual entity, and two he always used an american host in the comics, one of them being Hal Jordan and the original was some dude named Jim Corrigan.

Michael Ironside, aka Darkside in Superman TAS, is a good choice for The Spectre.

West African decent is a political correct term for a black man. "Most" black people are descended from West Africa. African American, can refer to a Caucasian. Many people from South Africa and some places in East Africa are mostly dominated by Caucasian.

Jenna Dewan looks the part, but I do not know about her acting.

Julia Voth,is the same story as Jenna Dewan. She is a fan favorite for the part of Zatanna though...

Serinda Swan already played her in Smallvile so that is a no.

Rachel Weisz would be an amazing choice.

There is also Eva Green.

Another good casting could potentially be Jaime Alexander but considering she is working for Marvel I do not know how that would pan out.

Any of the above would be great choices for Zatanna. In my opinion.

Well thanks for all the info, but my aunt being from Niger(yes Niger and Nigeria are two different countries) and her daughter being a missionary in South Africa, I'm familiar.

But your reply then makes me wonder, why a "black man"?

Race has nothing to do with the character.
