Ryan Reynolds And Grant Gustin Take Shots At Each Other's DC History In New MNTN Commercial

Is this the Green Lantern/The Flash team-up we've all been waiting for? In a newly released commercial, Ryan Reynolds and Grant Gustin exchange barbs about their respective DC histories. Check it out...

Between starring in movies, running a football club, and being a marketing whiz, Ryan Reynolds is a very busy man these days (he even has a stake in a liquor brand and wireless provider).

Now, in a new commercial for MNTN, a TV marketing company, Reynolds introduces the world to Chief Performance Officer Seymour Roas. Played by The Flash star Grant Gustin, he shares a lot of technical jargon which is repeatedly interrupted by the Deadpool 3 actor referencing Gustin's superhero past.

"That sounds fast," he says at one stage before asking, "Would you say people could see results...in a flash?" Gustin's Roas largely ignores him, only for Reynolds to then add, "You'll always be my Barry."

Gustin bounces back with the perfect zinger by responding, "You'll always be my Hal" ("That hurts, Seymour," Reynolds notes). It's a great promo and one which is drawing a lot of attention on social media.

Reynolds has never shied away from referencing the movie that nearly destroyed his career. Released in 2011, Green Lantern was a critical and commercial flop and saw Hollywood largely move on from a leading man who had been unfairly deemed box office poison.

He'd later prove everyone wrong, of course, with Deadpool putting him back on the A-List. These days, Reynolds is one of the world's biggest movie stars.

As for Gustin, it's unclear what he has planned after The Flash wrapped up earlier this year. He spent a decade playing DC's Scarlet Speedster, and many fans were left disappointed when he was seemingly denied a cameo appearance in this summer's The Flash movie.

For the time being, this is the closest we're going to get to a Green Lantern/The Flash team-up, so check out the commercial in the player below.

Green Lantern: Sworn to preserve intergalactic order, the Green Lantern Corps has existed for centuries. Its newest recruit, Hal Jordan (Ryan Reynolds), is the first human to join the ranks. The Green Lanterns have little regard for humans, who have thus far been unable to harness the powers of the ring each member wears. But Jordan, a gifted and cocky test pilot, may be the corps' only hope when a new enemy called Parallax threatens the universal balance of power.

The Flash: The series follows Barry Allen, portrayed by Grant Gustin, a crime scene investigator who gains super-human speed, which he uses to fight criminals, along with others who have also gained superhuman abilities.
