A lot happened in tonight's penultimate episode of The Flash season eight, and it looks like the stage is now officially set for what should be one of the show's wildest and most action-packed finales ever, as a vengeful Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) squares off against his greatest adversary, the Reverse-Flash (Tom Cavanagh).
The hour, which picked up immediately after the events of last week's installment, kicked off with a shocking twist as Deon (Christian Mabgy) seemingly killed the imprisoned Eobard by using the Negative Still Force to rapidly age him into a corpse.
However, while it seemed as though the threat was vanquished, things only got crazier from there. By the end of the episode, evil Eobard (Cavanagh) ripped open good Eobard (Matt Letscher) and emerged from within with his full speed restored, which, of course, meant nothing good for Team Flash.
Then, the episode took a devastating turn as Thawne killed Iris (Candice Patton) by using Barry's own lightning against her, and seemingly set the stage for a sure-to-be insane finale next week.
While not much is yet known about what to expect, it looks like Barry will be getting some major reinforcements from his future children Nora (Jessica Parker Kennedy) and Bart (Jordan Fisher) - who both still exist, so maybe there's hope for their mother as well?
