THE FLASH Season 6's Big Bad May Have Been Teased In Last Night's Episode

As you may recall, The Thinker was referenced half a season before he actually showed up in The Flash, so last night's episode may reveal the Scarlet Speedster's next foe - & he's from the Dark Multiverse!

In DC's Metal event from Scott Snyder, we were introduced to the Dark Multiverse and a number of twisted versions of Batman, including The Batman Who Laughs and the Red Death. The latter was a version of Bruce Wayne desperate to accomplish more, who absorbed Barry Allen's Speed Force abilities, killing him in the process.

During last night's episode of The Flash, Barry and Iris found themselves in the Flash Museum's Hall of Villains and saw a video with Central City Police Captain David Singh talking about Cicada's killing spree - and he namedropped the Red Death!

"The Flash did everything he could, but Cicada killed more people than Zoom or even the Red Death and the way the city saw the Flash - his legacy - was never the same," Singh explained.

If this is indeed a hint that the Red Death will be season six's lead villain, then The CW series is clearly going to return to using a speedster as the big bad and that may be no bad thing due to how underwhelming both The Thinker and Cicada have been.

Chances are, it won't be Bruce Wayne beneath the mask and will probably be a twisted version of Barry instead. However, we might see a mystery unfold regarding his identity - another plot beat which has been sorely missed after the first three seasons. Thoughts?

I still have to watch the ep but...NO WAY! D:

Probably the ONLY "Batmanized Hero" villain i liked in that gutter trash Metal story written by Scott Snyder.
Srsly, f*ck that shit.

@Doomsday8888 - I have not read Dark Nights Metal. It's that bad?

@DeadWade213 - It's just my opinion, but I completely disagree with @Doomsday8888 . I found Metal to be a great story that is even more satisfying if you've read Snyders new 52 batman. If you stop reading after Metal I can see how some people might think the ending (without spoilers) makes the league and Batman look really irresponsible and stupid, but all of that is a catalyst for the events of Snyders JL run starting with no justice. His justice league run, so far, is definitely one of my favorite runs/iterations of the team that involves a lot of continuity from Metal and pre-new 52. All his work with New 52 batman (havent read the DCU stuff though) to Metal and JL is phenomenal imo.

Imma big Batman fan, but even for me that was too much.
And if you're a long time comicbook reader you will like it even less, maybe if you started with New 52 there's a chance you will enjoy it.
It's the definition of convoluted mess.
Simple ass storyline and, like always, Snyder turned it into a big ass blockbuster.
He plays with lots of old DC concepts that are very dear to me but...he completely missed the point, he doesn't get thosr things...at all.

I'm struggling this season. Have watched from the beginning but either the show is getting worse or I'm getting to old and grumpy to watch. The amount of times Barry could use he's speed to end a threat and yet he doesn't is beginning to make me swear at the TV. If I finish this season that will probably be it for me. I've done my time.

@MarvelousMarty - Yeah man, I waved the white flag a couple episodes ago. S2 was The Flash's peak, and it's gotten worse and worse since. I'm just not invested in it anymore.

Gotham on the other hand...

@KWilly - Haven't started Gotham's last season yet, saving them up.

@KWilly - But S2 of The Flash was awful... 😅

Flash was good when it started, most of S1 that was based on the movie script that had floated around for years, but then it jumped the shark when the writers proved to have no idea about how to properly handle the time travel aspects of the show and also when Barry started to act like a selfish irresponsable idiot (which has been a constant since then).

S2 had a few ok moments, but the way they solved the Zoom identity situation was just ridiculous, the guy playing Garrick was doing a fine job and Zoom was going to be an evil Barry Allen from another earth/universe, but everybody guessed it so they changed it in the last moment and then Jay was actually Zoom and the real Jay was Barry's dad doppleganger, which made zero sense.

And then they used the "evil Barry" plot for S3 with Savitar, that was just a bad copy of Zoom, who also was a bad copy of Reverse Flash from S1.

Arrow at least was good (with its flaws) for a couple of seasons before being ruined, but Flash was much faster in that regard. XD

I still watch both shows and they have some good, fun and interesting moments (and so many others that are embarrassingly bad), but they could have been soooo much better if they had kept the initial quality... :(

PS: I could only tolerate Gotham for one season, lol. I had huge hopes for it, then watched the pilot and was very disappointed, tried to give it a chance and finished the whole season, but I haven't watched the rest. Maybe someday I'll give it another try, but I think it was a missed opportunity to have a really good serious comic book show, just something like The Wire or The Shield (not Marvel's show, but the cop one) but set in Gotham City with the GCPD dealing with all the Batman lore, and not this weird thing we got that I was unable to take seriously at all, tbh.

@KoolerThanJesus - I think Flash has two issues: 1) he’s part of and very dependent on a team (which limits what they can do with him), and 2) they started not only with his mother’s death but with Reverse Flash as his mentor/instructor. That dynamic was great for Season 1, but it also meant they could never ease into Barry’s abilities. And once Season 1 did it all, there was never really anywhere for it to go.

I think they really need to change up the dynamic, starting by breaking the team apart. Arrow has arguably been at its best when Oliver works alone/with a small group. I think the same could be true of the Flash character.

Then, I think it might be time to bring in some more exciting allies (like, idk, Booster Gold?). Flash needs to be fresh, because the whole melodramatic soap opera thing isn’t really working.

dark metal sucked ass but some of the dark multiverse characters created for it were pretty rad
i assume they wouldn't use bruce wayne and it would be a kate kane version, which could be cool. especially if arrow also used a dark metal batman as a villain
