Cameras are currently rolling on the upcoming ninth and final season of The Flash, and some new set photos from Canadagraphs reveal a first look at a deadly villain.

Yes, that is indeed Red Death, though he is now a she. It's not overly surprising that Bruce Wayne wouldn't be in the suit, and it makes all the sense in the world for Batwoman star Javicia Leslie to suit-up as this twisted Caped Crusader. That series was recently cancelled, so we are glad to see her get another shot at playing Ryan Wilder.

In the comic books, Red Death was a member of The Batman Who Laughs' Dark Knights. This evil alternate version of Bruce Wayne was left traumatised by Robin's death, prompting him to tap into the Speed Force so he could fight crime more effectively. Eventually, he would absorb The Flash's powers, combining the Batmobile and Cosmic Treadmill to create a sinister new suit.

Red Death was mentioned in season 5 of The Flash, and Leslie was spotted in costume alongside Grant Gustin's Scarlet Speedster and Paul Anthony as season 1's Rainbow Rider.

"Flash walks slowly towards the other two, before stopping," reads their scene description. "Some dialogue is exchanged between them, before Rainbow Raider is standing over him forcing The Flash down to the ground, eventually laid out flat on his back. Red Death then walks over, stands over The Flash, and then does some type of clap motion, then they walk away.

"A bit later, they did a scene with JUST Red Death standing in the courtyard," the site continues. "Spectators running around screaming, and she yells out to The Flash to come [and] get her."

Intriguing stuff, eh?

Hopefully, The CW will share an official look at The Flash's Red Death soon.
