Cameras are currently rolling on the upcoming ninth and final season of The Flash, and some new set photos from Canadagraphs reveal a first look at a deadly villain.

Yes, that is indeed Red Death, though he is now a she. It's not overly surprising that Bruce Wayne wouldn't be in the suit, and it makes all the sense in the world for Batwoman star Javicia Leslie to suit-up as this twisted Caped Crusader. That series was recently cancelled, so we are glad to see her get another shot at playing Ryan Wilder.

In the comic books, Red Death was a member of The Batman Who Laughs' Dark Knights. This evil alternate version of Bruce Wayne was left traumatised by Robin's death, prompting him to tap into the Speed Force so he could fight crime more effectively. Eventually, he would absorb The Flash's powers, combining the Batmobile and Cosmic Treadmill to create a sinister new suit.

Red Death was mentioned in season 5 of The Flash, and Leslie was spotted in costume alongside Grant Gustin's Scarlet Speedster and Paul Anthony as season 1's Rainbow Rider.

"Flash walks slowly towards the other two, before stopping," reads their scene description. "Some dialogue is exchanged between them, before Rainbow Raider is standing over him forcing The Flash down to the ground, eventually laid out flat on his back. Red Death then walks over, stands over The Flash, and then does some type of clap motion, then they walk away.

"A bit later, they did a scene with JUST Red Death standing in the courtyard," the site continues. "Spectators running around screaming, and she yells out to The Flash to come [and] get her."

Intriguing stuff, eh?

Hopefully, The CW will share an official look at The Flash's Red Death soon.

Wow, Red Death! A compromised version, but still... impressive.

This means we might get some multiverse stuff for the finale. It'd be cool if they went out with a bang.
Javicia Leslie appearing might also mean other Arrowverse alumni could appear also.

Whatever you think of this universe, it does deserve a big finale, IMO.

Probably for the best the shows coming to an end. If you’ve got to the point that you need to bring in the red death you’ve really ran out of stories to tell

So long in the tooth they can't even get the principle cast together anymore. A shame when it happens.

Man, the CW really declined so sharply In quality.

Here’s hoping the cast and crew at least get to say meaningful goodbyes to each other.

So dumb. Did this flash even know this version of batwoman?

What they should've done is try to bring back Stephen amell. Keep in mind their green arrow was basically their batman.

Only thing they get by using her is a bat symbol

I'd like to apologize. I regularly joked about how Red Death was going to Batwank itself into the movies and that energy materialized as Flashwank.

Could have made it a bart look alike (part Red Death, part Inertia)

Clearly I had not had enough coffee when I first glanced at this story earlier today. I was thinking Leslie Grace and The Flash movie. Well it would not make us a lot of sense for her to be this character, I did get a little excited at first, partially but it meant she was back as Barbara Gordon. Oh well.

She's very pretty. Can't say more, I haven't seen a single episode of Batwoman, and no Flash in many years.

I'm only watching this show because I stuck with it for so long. Hope they at least conclude it properly.

Red Death's presence here means that the Multiverse is likely going to be reintroduced to the heroes after the last 3 years. That by itself is exciting and about time. That version in the set must be a doppelgänger of Earth Prime Ryan Wilder.

We all should know by now that the reason why Warren Christie isn't reprising his role as Bruce Wayne from Earth Prime is all thanks to DC/WBD's stupid double standard rule about not letting two versions of the same character exist in live-action at the same time. It sucks but that's how they roll therefore the only logical option was to use a Bat Family related character, one that had her own show, don this mantle for this take. Which is why I find these "it should've been Oliver for it to have an impact" really close minded type of reactions.

Especially when Oliver himself never even believed Batman was real in Elseworlds, he thought he was just an urban legend.

But also: it's intriguing that Rainbow Rider was there too. The original one from the first Season. And S9 premiere will show the 2nd Captain Boomerang fighting Barry. Seems that these episodes could be about some Rogues moving ahead with some plan one per episode.

Finally the suit is nice, especially the cowl and the symbol. Very accurate. Now I hope that when she runs bats come out as well with the lightning.
