Throughout The Flash’s run, Tom Cavanagh has shown a broad range of character, emotions and acting “chops”. We are now in the show’s fourth season, and already he has played three distinct versions of Wells over multiple episodes; Harrison Wells, Harry, and H.R.  Each of these characters a variation of the same person from a different dimension.

In a recent interview, Tom Cavanagh revealed that we can expect more interplay between these personas.

And, then it will all be done, but at least we will have this stamp of shamelessness. With the Council of Wells, I will always be able to point to that and go, ‘Look at this exercise in egotism that we managed to pull off.”

The Council of Wells appears to be playing into this season of The Flash’s more lighthearted tone. The banter between H.R and Harry should prove to be comical, while still entertaining the idea that we will get to see Harrison Wells from other Earth’s. Perhaps some that were introduced in Season 3?

The Flash won’t be the first show to utilize the concept of a multidimensional council of scientists, but it should provide the show with a jovial episode while building towards the looming threat of The Thinker.
