This show has the best drama and twists of any show on tv today IMO. Add to that the level of acting and choreography, specifically that fight sequence, and you're watching an hour long movie each week. I just wish the seasons were longer than 10 episodes.

I really thought the viper was gonna kick his ass and he basically did, but the dreaded villain exposition doomed him. Doesn't he watch/read comics?!?! Haha dumb showboater...

Anyone else think of princess bride when Oberyn was reciting his speech? "You raped her, you killed her, then you killed her children" ...my name is Enigo Montoya, you killed my father, prepare to die!!!'

I'm really hating Daenerys these days. She's shallow, impulsive, and is really way in over her head.
Ser Jorah spied on her, yes, but he cut his ties before her Khal died, before everyone abandoned her. He's told her everything else - that he was exiled for selling slaves, the one thing she just can't abide. He's protected her, and even when confronted with his past, he gives her sound advice - Tywin is using this to divide and conquer. There wasn't a moment when he actually stopped helping her, and no, he never actually did betray her.

I hope her dragons turn on her.

For the first episode I've ever watched, I couldn't believe how brutal that was. Now I'm downloading the entire show...

Just understand that while the show is definitely brutal, THIS episode in particular was horrific. Just don't want you to get your hopes up if that's what you're expecting throughout.

There going Gangbuster with this season of Game of Thrones. Everyone episode rivals the best episodes in all previous seasons. The Walking Dead needs to take note. Every season after season 2 of the Walking dead has gotten worst. The shows not bad its just not as good as what came before.

If only he would've walked away. He had the fight won. : (

Really interested to see what they're going to do with Sansa. They've basically caught up with her story in the books, so the show is going to be the leading edge of her storyline until the Red God finally publishes the next novel.

I mean George R. R. Martin. Sorry, I forget the difference sometimes.

I was even told by a book reader that in the books they pretty much outright state that without her dragons she'd become Viserys. The dragons led to her obtaining an army, was the catalyst for the Second Sons, taking Meereen, etc. Without the dragons non of that would have happened, without any progress in regards to taking the throne, she would have became more and more unhinged.

Desperate, impatient, impulsive and pathetic like Viserys and she even pulls the "I am YOUR Queen!" thing often enough like Viserys pulled the "I am YOUR King!" all the time with the only difference being it doesn't come off as pathetic with her because she has an army surrounding her... because of her dragons...

@Spock

I think if we didn't see Reek/Ramsay or Sansa for the rest of the season, that would be cool. The ended on good notes, no need to drawn them out...

Also *SPOILERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!*with Bolton and Ramsay moving into Winterfell... did that happen in the books because I know the state Wintefell is in by the end of A Dance With Dragons with Stannis, Theon, etc. so is this book accurate... not too many details please, yes or no ;P*SPOILERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!*

Re: Daenerys

She's a spoiled rich girl that adopts the social struggle and culture of anyone (as long as she can be in charge of them), but has never actually earned the right to lead.

She's like Madonna, with her fake British accent and adopted African children, but it's all an affectation. It's an identity she has taken as her own, without actually understanding or appreciating the deeper meanings of it.

@Klone

Daenerys = Viserys is just about right. As they say: "Whenever a Targaryan is born, the gods flip a coin" and as of now we are not really sure which way Dany's coin landed (and I think the show is definitely trying to hammer that point home). She's not supposed to be everyone's favorite "true heir to the iron throne", but just one of the many flawed players.

As for the spoilers, my memories of the later books is a bit hazy as I plowed through them all at once a few years back, but I think the show is more or less in line with the books. They may fudge the sequence of events, but the major outcomes tend to be the same.

Was excited and dreading this episode but it was so worth it, the fight was brilliant and the conclusion was soul crushingly awesome. It sums up GoT brilliantly the outcome, the good guys, even with a just cause, can lose.

In the books, Daenerys is much more even tempered.
The shows writers like to mess with everything, and the change they made to Jorah's banishment is not a good one.
In the book, she learns of Jorah being a spy and charged him with opening the gates to Mereen along with Ser Berristan as penance for their individual betrayals (Berristan lied about who he was, he called himself Whitebeard for a while).
After they were successful, Berristan was repentant for his actions but Jorah was not. She reluctantly banishes him because he will not ask for forgiveness.

Tainted87 yes she acted impulsively and she will start to regret that on her own. Everything you said is true, but also true to human nature.

@SuperCat: "He was so damn close. All he had to do was walk away :("

Oh, my bruthah, THAT was the dramatic impact from the book, as well.

And it does apply to MANY situations in the entire Game of Thrones series of books.

And, therein, lies the rub.

Hey, Tainted87, how did he know about the manticore?

No, he did NOT cut his ties with Varys's "little birds" even after the Khal died.

Great show, but I've never gotten the hate for Dany, I'm still a fan of hers like I was from the first. She's not stupid or vicious, she has good intentions and a kind heart (she's freeing slaves ffs), but she's young and inexperienced. She's doing pretty well all things considered. But she still has a lot to learn. Dany's arc, like the arcs of many of the characters, and like the arc of the reader, is learning both that good actions can have bad consequences, and bad actions can have good consequences - not in the sense that that's what always happens (it's not a moral inversion, nor is it moral relativism), but in the sense that it's something you have to watch out for, and may not even get right at all, even with the best intentions in the world. That's what makes the series more realistic than most fantasy.
