There are now only two episodes of Game of Thrones left, and while the series finale is sure to be eventful in its own right, we're probably going to witness most of the fire and blood in this Sunday's penultimate installment.

HBO has released 9 promo images from the still untitled episode, and they give us a glimpse of the calm before the storm as Daenerys, Jon, Tyrion, Cersei and the rest of our main players contemplate "The Last War" to come.

Check out the pics below, and let us know how you think this ep will play out in the comments.

Dany

Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) and Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey) prepare for one last showdown.

Daenerys was prepared to give Cersei a chance to surrender, but that all went out the window along with Missandei's head in the closing moments of last week's episode.

The Dragon Queen still seems conflicted about what comes next, but we reckon King's Landing - and most of its denizens - are toast.

The Golden Company

They may be short a few elephants, but Cersei still has some formidable backup in the form of Harry Strickland and his Golden Company mercenaries.

We've been led to believe that both armies are now pretty much evenly matched. Dany does have Drogon, but those anti-dragon scorpions are sure to keep him at bay - unless...

Euron

Euron and his fleet were responsible for taking out Rhaegal in the last episode, and the phychotic Greyjoy is bound to be confident that he can bring Drogon down the same way.

However, a shot from the promo of Euron looking surprised as something emerges from the clouds has led to speculation that Dany's last dragon may have been fitted with some armor to deflect those lethal scorpion bolts.

Cersei

The odds may have stacked against Cersei Lannister when the season began, but the vindictive ruler must now believe she can emerge victorious.

Remember, Cersei always has something up her sleeve, so expect a few surprises this Sunday.

Grey Worm

Poor Grey Worm survived The Battle of Winterfell only to witness the love of his life decapitated at the gates of King's Landing a few days later.

Revenge will be on the Unsullied Captain's mind, but will he back his Queen's plan to incinerate the city?

Tyrion

Tyrion still believes in Dany and may well attempt to reason with her one last time, but did we see Varys sway him a little in "The Last of The Starks"?

If The Dragon Queen does destroy King's Landing, her Hand is sure to join Team Jon.

Varys

Varys meets Jon and his men on the shores of Dragonstone.

We know that The Spider now intends to declare for Jon Snow Aegon Targaryen, and is prepared to betray - or possibly even assassinate - Daenerys to see the former Bastard of Winterfell sit the Iron Throne.

The Edge of Battle

Davos, Jon and Tyrion survey the battlefield.

It'll be interesting to see how Jon reacts to Tyrion knowing his secret.

Aegon

Aegon Targaryen has some big decisions to make this Sunday.

We know he doesn't care about claiming the Iron Throne, but there's no way he'll sit by and allow Dany to burn the city to the ground. Will he declare himself the rightful King of Westeros in order to stop her?
