New GAME OF THRONES Season 5 Character Portraits; Show May Run Past Season 7
Following their collector's covers, EW have revealed these stylish character portraits of Daenerys (Emilia Clarke), Jon (Kit Harrington), Arya (Maisie Williams), and Tyrion (Peter Dinklage). Plus, HBO's Michael Lombardo would like the show to last longer than the planned 7 seasons...
Though major deviations from the source novels are inevitable as a result, Game Of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss have always maintained that they envisioned only 7 seasons for the incredibly popular HBO series -- but what if someone high up at the network wants it to run longer? “We’ll have an honest conversation that explores all possible avenues,” HBO programming president Michael Lombardo tells EW after admitting that he'd prefer if the show kept going for a while after 2017. “If they weren’t comfortable going beyond seven seasons, I trust them implicitly and trust that’s the right decision—as horrifying as that is to me. What I’m not going to do is have a show continue past where the creators believe where they feel they’ve finished with the story.” Whatever happens, let's hope they come up with an ending that pleases TV and book fans alike... if that's even possible.
Episode #41: “The Wars to Come”: Cersei and Jaime adjust to a world without Tywin. Varys reveals a conspiracy to Tyrion. Dany faces a new threat to her rule. Jon is caught between two kings. (Written by David Benioff & D. B. Weiss; directed by Michael Slovis.)
