Who's got the greatest grievance? One New York rag wants to find out by starting a geek gang war pitting Harry Potter fans against Watchmen fans.

So if you haven't heard, WB's Harry Potter 6 (The Half-Blood Prince) has been pushed back from November 2008 to summer of 2009. Potter fans went ballistic over the delay and have threatened Warner Bros. with boycotts, etc. Similarly, Watchmen fans have been mobilized to protest 20th Century Fox for litigation against Warners over copyright infringement, which although unlikely, could possibly keep the movie from being shown at all. Now, the elitests at "New York" magazine are having a laugh over the hoo-haw and are actually goading Harry Potter fans to attack Watchmen fans in order win their cause! And I quote...

"If the multitudes of ticked-off Harry Potter fans really wanted to bring Warner to its knees, we'd suggest they focus on stymieing the protests of the weaker, lesser-in-number Watchmen fans, thus allowing Fox's copyright suit to continue apace."

Taking nothing away from the Harry Potter phenom, I've seen the outrage of the last couple days first hand, and I wouldn't exactly call Watchmen fans "weaker" than Harry Potter fans. Also, I would say that the Potter problem isn't quite as damaging as the Watchmen one. Still, the audacity that a magazine would make the suggestion that Potterites attack Watchmen fans!

Hey I've got an idea! Boycott New York Magazine!
